Thrillist called Lambsbread, who I have never heard of, the best band from Vermont.

At least they didn't say it was Twiddle.

2017 will go down as one of the best years in Phish history.

I'm intrigued by this claim, and am d/l'ing the rest of what I don't have, from what is only what, 25 shows? I'll check em out!

Were you are any of the shows this year?

I’ll admit I’m somewhat biased because I saw 15 shows this year and that is by far the most out of any year. But there felt, especially with the BD, a landmark of sorts. They’re still reinventing themselves and trying new shit.

I saw zero shows in '17. I vaguely tried to get to a couple, but it wasn't in the cards. Been a tough year. Although I saw Yes and Ratt, lol. I did just listen to the 12/30 Brother, and I couched 12/31 and the 12th donut show. While I definitely haven't been feeling like best year ever or anything, all is certainly well in Phish Land.

I was sitting here feeling bad about the fact that I only saw them four times this year, but then realized fans of other musical acts would be thrilled to see their favorite band four times in one year. I'll see it through their lens.

it was a "can't miss a shot" year. if anyone saw any show summer/dicks/nye you felt like a winner for being there. oh and it was *thrilling* every chance we got to tell someone we saw phish play 13 shows in a row at the same place, and get asked they inevitable "Why?", and be able to excitedly answer "they didn't play a single song twice" and watch their minds get blown :D

Between 1.0 and 3.0, I went eight years without one. Heck, the whole reason I've gone to Dick's was because I was just sick of them not giving me anything really local. Can be tough to make shows at times.

It will likely go down as my favorite 3.0 year, and I can't believe that 2015 was robbed of that title so quickly. The problem I have in comparing them to other years, is that I jumped on in 2004. So I have a built in "post-hiatus" bias.

I got to catch a few show, and saw about a dozen more via live streams. I am very lucky.

I almost want to put an asterisk next to 2017. It was fantastic but part of that was based on a majority of the shows being around the Baker's Dozen and them having a lot of cool gimmicks or jams as a result. Feels unfair to compare it to a "normal" tour year.

Agreed. But to me, not an asterisk in the Barry Bonds/McGuire home run sense, just 2017 was an unusual touring year, but then again, when does Phish do anything normal? So maybe it was usual, but like a usual unusual, if ya know what I mean...

2017 unusual tour is greater than 2006 unusual tour

that spectrum show kicked ass

I hear you. Couch toured a couple of shows this year but attended zero. Having my second child didn't help either. BD was impressive, but I was sort of underwhelmed by the New Year's run.

So, yay, there's 2018 dates. Makes me glad I haven't been waiting for another Michigan show all this time. I put in for Dick's again. Hope to see you all there.

Does Curveball get a thread or should we just like, use this thing? My email account keeps telling me about it.

This post's bonus content:
When I started typin' it, I accidentally misspelled "Does" "Dose", and then "My email" started comin out as "yEM" at first. I had to correct that sh!t. I did it for you. Even though you might have liked it better the other way. That's what the bonus content is for.

I have a few Phish / jam scene related questions:

Do you think Phish is currently the best jam band on the scene? If "no", who?

Are you a Grateful Dead fan? If you had to choose one, who would you rather see: Dead and Co., Phil Lesh and The Terrapin Family Band, or JRAD? Why?

- ahyah 8-)

- yesss. i guess i'd choose JRAD, tho i've only seen the Red Rocks show so maybe i'm too hopeful. anyway my gut says its probably the most reliably 3rd eye experience of the bunch. over 6 DnCo. shows that's been like a .250 hit rate, tho they're hitting .800 on the giggles
