This is still one of the most fun times I've had musically in ages, what a brilliant idea from the band to play on the 1st, zero pressure on them after NYE (which wa kick-ass) and I truly think the Setlist and Music reflect how carefree and happy they were...Seriusly, take a look at that Setlist for a moment, it's freakin seck!!

Saturday, 01/01/2011
Madison Square Garden, New York, NY

Set 1: My Soul, Tube > Runaway Jim > Foam, Guelah Papyrus > Divided Sky, Round Room > Walk Away > Gotta Jibboo > Reba[1], Walls of the Cave

Set 2: Crosseyed and Painless > Twist[2] > Simple, Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley > Makisupa Policeman[3] -> David Bowie

Encore: Fee[4], Frankenstein[5]

[1] No whistling.
[2] Manteca quotes from Trey.
[3] "I went home late last night after doing the New Year's stunt, laid back on my couch and rolled myself a blunt" lyrics. "Kick drum solo."
[4] Trey sang verses through megaphone.
[5] Page on keytar.

Notes: This was the third of three Pay Per view performances. Reba did not have the whistling ending. Round Room was played for the first time since July 13, 2003 (140 shows). Twist contained Manteca quotes from Trey. Makisupa included the lyrics "I went home late last night after doing the New Year's stunt, laid back on my couch and rolled myself a blunt" and also featured a "kick drum solo." Frankenstein featured Page on keytar.

08/14/1998
Loring Commerce Center at Loring Air Force Base, Limestone, ME

Set 1: Funky Bitch, Ginseng Sullivan, Back at the Chicken Shack, Jam, She Caught the Katy and Left Me a Mule to Ride, Dog Log, Down Home Dirty Blues, I Gave My Love a Cherry, Please Send Me Someone to Love

The sbd recordings start after Funky Bitch has been run through but where it picks up contains some of the best jamming from 1998 and beyond. This ~22 minute jam is top notch as is the ~13 minute straight up jam a couple songs later. The band is very playful in this soundcheck and, as expected, it get quite goofy towards the end.

Easily one of the best soundchecks they've done along with big cypress and the limbo soundcheck from Italy the summer of 1997.

10 years ago, "we're done."

Started to listen for the first time since it happened. First set of day one is a rough one to get through, especially as Trey starts addressing the audience at the end. He sounds so bad.

OH yes. I'll never forget that. I was at home, Saturday morning 3/7/09, downloaded the show without knowing ANY of the setlist ... grabbed my first coffee and hit play, and just got so damn giddy. I'm STILL psyched they opened that show w/Fluffhead.
