I heard Steven Kellog and the Sixers (or something like that) do 'Sample in a Jar' at Gathering of the Vibes. They sucked.

steven kellog's live shows are alright. i've seen him a couple times with just him on guitar and kazoo and a drummer, it was pretty sweet. he's a great guy too, i've met him a few times.

i think everyone one know their songs are quite a challenge...plus, most of their stuff isn't based on a rigid structure...people were more excited to see how it progressed rather than just happy to hear it...you know what i mean?

I have previously mentioned the Spring Heeled Jack cover of Makisupa Policeman in the Ska Bands thread. It's horrible. They even make up their own lyrics. I'm glad there aren't more bands doing this.

Umphrey's McGee at their april 1st show played the beginning of Divided Sky but then cut right into something else.....they used to play a lot of phish covers(antelope, weekapaug, gin) in their early days

Once I get my band together, we will play Phish covers, and get big so ya'll can follow us around. Also, whenever I play Phish tunes I find it very difficult not to stare at the ceiling while soloing out....haha.

my band plays First Tube, Tube, Tweezer Reprize and Piper. It's tough to capture that Phish feel but still kind of play like yourself, maybe that's why more bands don't do it?

Keller's done a number of Phish covers...I have a show where he does Divided Sky and...I can't remember, but there a are a couple of others...It is an older show, so I doubt if he covers many phish tunes anymore...I don't even know if he is really a jam rocker...I don't even know what a jamband is...Maybe I shouldn't have posted anything.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

that phrase will always remind me of Eric Cartman.

Kyle: I'm a Jew.
Cartman: Kyle, Kyle.... don't be so hard on yourself!
Kyle: No, Cartman, you don't get it... I am a Jew.

They're too young to be covered. Give it 20 years or so and they'll be covered more.
