I met Trey AGAIN tonight...

Postby rivshark86 » Tue Oct 10, 2006 3:56 pm

From now on everyone from this board should yell "burgers in Walmart", or "McDonalds in Walmart". That can be the calling card of this board at shows, and trey will always reconize it and remember when he met you there.

Wow, what an amazing story. You really did just live every phans dream. I have heard nothing but good things about Trey the past few months, and when I saw him with the Duo in June it kicked ass. All of this along with your story inspired me to get some tickets to go see him in Charlottsville VA this Friday. Think Dave Mathews will show up? It's his hometown. I dont really like Dave, but it would be fun if he did show up. Mabey I will yell for a Big Mac in Walmart and see if he changes his expression. It's a cool venue and I should be able to get on the rail.

I just have a feeling this is going to be a great tour for Trey. Just wait......

^ I agree. It seems to be going well so far. The enthusiasm of Floyd and others is making me wish he was playing in Mpls/St. Paul this tour. I might have to get a show or two from livephish.com.

Hey.
They just posted 2 tracks from the Sunday Webster Hall Show on Trey's website for FREE.

I am so glad they put the killer Plasma on there.
I didn't realize that Jennifer (the big chick singer) could blow the horn like that.
This is a great performance.
Check it out.

Who's going to NYE????????????

I just relayed this Walmart story to a friend of mine who hangs with Tom Marshall from time to time, and he confirmed Trey's proclivity to enjoy fast food. He said that Tom has told him that when Trey wants to meet Tom for lunch, his first suggestions are usually McDonalds or Burger King. Most times, from what he said, Tom can talk Trey out of it.

Yeah, he and Tom went to the recent Roger Waters concert at Madison Square Garden. Both of them agreed it was one of the best shows they've ever experienced.

I thought I told the OKP about being invited into the green room at an Amfibian concert two years ago at the Knitting Factory in NYC. Got to hang with Tom, Mike Gordon and the rest of the band, drink some killer Tequila and wound up passing some fone-grown around the room (although I don't know if either Tom or Mike toked on it).

Actually, the band was pretty nervous, and I really didn't connect with anyone except Chris, Tom's keyboardist. Very cool, down to earth guy. Actually, I didn't know who he was until they took the stage, but wound up chatting with the guy about wine, of all things.

The show was OK. A fun night to be sure. The biggest thrill for me, though, was talking to a soldier in the darkness of the side balcony in the main room of the Knitting Factory. He was on leave from his unit in Iraq and he was scheduled to return to complete his tour in a few weeks. He was relatively new to Phish's music and wanted to know as much as I could tell him.

In return he told me how being in Iraq was like living in fear 24/7, not sleeping for days because you were too afraid to close your eyes. Before we parted I was able to make eye contact with him only long enough to tell him how much I appreciated what he was doing over there. I told him it was something that I could never find the courage to do, but that I appreciated all that he was doing for me and for my family. It was a moment in time for me, and from the look in his eye and the firmness of his handshake, one for him as well.

That brief encounter, that momentary handshake, that emotional connection with the soldier (and I am totally ashamed that I can't remember his first name) was infinitely more important to me than hanging out with the band in the green room.

I was also at that show.
I wish I got to see Trey there as well.

*sigh*

It was a great show indeed.

I met Trey AGAIN tonight...

Postby floydthechimpanzee » Tue Jul 03, 2007 5:43 pm

*sigh*

Hey all.

I was engaged to be married and 5 weeks ago I found out that my girl was cheating on me.
Obviously, we have broken up since.
The last 5 weeks have been miserable for me.

Little by little, with every day that passed we were systematically severing the ties that bind.

A loose end here, a loose end there.

Each time more painful than the last conversation.

She became a completely different person towards the end.
Her appearance changed.
She was becoming a "club" girl.
She had a new group of friends at this new job and they totally brainwashed her.

One of the last things on the plate in the "Mine/Hers" debate was the Trey poster that I got signed at the Webster Hall show in October (the whole story that started this thread).

Well, 6 years ago when me and the missus first got together she had never even heard of Phish.
She was more of a punk chick.
Well, she sensed my enthusiasm when they got back together after hiatus and wanted to check out the scene.
She became a huge fan.

What I really loved about her was that she really "got it".
She noticed the subtle musical ques and such.
She rivaled me in my crazy Phish lust.

We were there all the way through to the end of the band.

So, when we finally met Trey...I felt like it was over ten years in the making for me, whereas it was only a few years for her.

Why is that relevant?
Well, she refused to give me back the framed print that he signed.
I began to state, "If it wasn't for me you wouldn't have even known who he was!!" ...and such.
I proceeded to tell her that she isn't even into this music anymore!
She is a club kid for crying out loud!!!

In the end.
She will not give it back to me.

One of the greatest moments in my life with the greatest woman in my life has all been soiled.

I only have my memories now.

Sorry for the downer...just had to vent.

It has been really hard recently.

do you have a key to her place?

you OWN that poster. it's yours. if she refuses to give it back to you, she's stealing it. you can press charges.

Postby floydthechimpanzee » Tue Jul 03, 2007 5:58 pm

No, I don't have a key to her place.
She lives with her parents.

The details were as follows.

When I asked for it back I stated that she is a different person who is the exact opposite of a "head" and that she probably took down the poster anyway and if it is going to collect dust in her attic, then I want it.

She went on to tell me that she "cherishes" that poster and anywhere that her future takes her that poster will be the centerpiece of her home.

She claimed to have paid for the whole thing (frame, print), that is how I ended up on the OKP.
I pulled up all my posts and I remember I posted about the framing of the print and how expensive I felt it was.

I found the post and it clearly says that I paid for half of it.

Anyway, she claimed she paid for the framing and that she should keep it.

At first I was just happy for a moment that she still had a little "phish" left in her.
I was happy that the print was going to be cherished, at least.

Now days later, I want it back...

I will tell you the truth.

I re-read the whole post from the beginning and I was completely teary eyed.
I was thinking back to that day we met him first then the day of the show and then hugging him.
Me and my girl were soooo happy.

I am thinking back to all of that and it pains me.

Her pic is also among the pics of the show.

I started to cry.
I could see how happy she was.
What a different person she was.

She's gone now.

ooh, ouch. sorry man.

i've been in your shoes before (relationship-wise), down to watching the girl i loved transforming before my eyes into a completely different person. there was nothing i could do to stop it from happening and it was incredibly painful. we lived together and the process of dividing mine/hers so she could move out was...ouch.

all i can say is that from my experience, it's best to just wish her well on her way out. yes, this is really hard to do for a while, but it allows you to move on as well. then you start seeing how when one door closes, others open. but mostly it's a time thing. it takes time. but it gets better and better until one day you wake up and you realize you're free as a bird and the whole world's spread out in front of you.

hang in there!

YEAH!

Sorry to hear about the succubus.

That's really sad.

Damn, women really piss me off (NOT ALL OF THEM!). They always blame us for being assholes or what not, and then look what they do.

You better get that poster back.

I mean, we can all break into her house together if we have to.

yeah, i can't offer any consolation other than to say good luck in the following weeks. after a rough break it seems like you'll never know love or happiness again but miraculously after a few weeks you begin regaining pleasure and the will to...be active, i guess.

good luck.

Yea.
Like I said it has been 5 weeks.
I just finished have a crying fit reminiscing the Trey meeting.

It sucks, as well, 2 weeks ago I hurt my back at work and have been on disability for the last 2 weeks.
I have been laying in bed...thinking.

It has been a living hell.

I am seeing a therapist now.
I am a complete mess.

I don't see the bright side at all.
Everything seems hopeless.

I have the ring here in front of me and I just stare at it for hours and thinking of how good it was.

Thanks guys.

Me done venting.
