How can you dream lines of poetry you don't know?

A clever idea in theory but not in execution. It never fit in, IMHO.

Listened to PON yesterday and pretty much forgot how untypically strange this album is, and this little ditty of a song kind of exemplifies what I mean. It also reminded me of a song written by Roger Waters that appeared on Ummagumma, a half live, half recorded two record album released in the early seventies right after they had all of their equipment stolen from them. That song is Granchester Meadows, and even though it has lyrics that Faht lacks, the feeling of the song and the placement on their repsective albums are very similar to me.
I'd post a link to a free download of Grantchester Meadows so you can hear a great PF song, but all mp3 sites are blocked by the network from where I am at the moment. If you Googlebing the title, you can listen to on your own.

Grantchester Meadows"

Icy wind of night, be gome.
This is not your domain.
In the sky a bird was heard to cry.
Misty morning whisperings and gentle stirring sounds
Belied a deathly silence that lay all around.
Hear the lark and harken to the barking of the dog fox gone to ground.
See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water.
And a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees,
Laughing as it passes through the endless summer making for the sea.
In the lazy water meadow
I lay me down.
All around me,
Golden sunflakes settle on the ground,
Basking in the sunshine of a by gone afternoon,
Bringing sounds of yesterday into this city room.
All around me,
Golden sunflakes covering the ground,
Basking in the sunshine of a by gone afternoon,
Bringing sounds of yesterday into my city room.
Hear the lark and harken to the barking of the dog fox gone to ground.
See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water.
And a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees,
Laughing as it passes through the endless summer making for the sea.
Go down in your own way
And everyday is the right day
And as you rise above the fear lines in his frown
You look down
Hear the sound of the faces in the crowd

While its not directly Phish, I think the version Lake Trout does on the "Sharin' In The Groove" compilation is great! Listen to it regularly. Faht->Catapult->Tweezer Reprise

Gets the juices flowing in the morning for sure

I'm glad I caught this one at the Beaconin 94. IMO this would fit in with a lot of the newer mellow
stuff...

This is a pretty little arrangement. I had a dream the other night that they played it at a show I was at. How weird.
