I particularly enjoy the Island Tour soundcheck version, for 2 reasons: Mike's bass playing and Trey barking out instructions. Plus, no audience let the sound come in crystal clear, with a bit of an echo, even.

"Slowly and methodically"

Up until hearing that version, I had no idea what went on at a Phish soundcheck.

Funky Bitch

Postby KDF4LYPHE » Tue Nov 14, 2006 6:33 pm

They soundchecked Funky Bitch a lot. I have the 7.18.93 soundcheck, complete with Buffalo Bill, a funk/rock version of Poor Heart (oh wait, nevermind, thats the 5.5.93 soundcheck I'm confused with, but that Poor Heart is a must hear!), and a Funky Bitch jam. Very cool stuff. I really like soundchecks, and wish I had a lot more of them than I do.

I was glad to see a Bitch on 6.26.04. Mike and Page played it well.

I don't really like the version they include as filler on one of the LP releases. I think it's a fall 1994 version.

It's a fun song, for sure. Dig it in 11/27/98; in fact, that's one of my fave shows.

Funky Bitch

It took me a while to appreciate the beauty that is this FUNKY Bitch. I think I got overloaded with it at my first couple of shows (that and My Soul, which I still do not appreciate). The never ending first set which is 7/13/99 was contiuned on by the gems of a tune. This was when I finally came to love this ditty (no, not a true 'ditty' by you try coming up with words half in thebag at 33:0). What a treat it was later that week to have the Bad Axe himself, Son Seals come out with the boys at Oswego to come play his song. You could tell just how he felt about the Funky Bitch! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEvvvery time I see her, she got new fancy clothes...........

The Bitch from the 7/05/1997 soundcheck is pretty sick.

Every festival version seems to be a scorcher.
we are all being pursed. some have been found, some are still running. some will keep running until they get to the end of the road, straight off the proverbial cliff. you don't have to turn back, you just have to turn around.
