Gotta say it was really nice to NOT hear the Hood being yelled by so many people during the Bonnaroo set  just sayin'..as for this version, it's pleasing, not bad at all, nice work by Trey and everyone is just flowing wit each other! I don't mind the ->Light, because they at least stayed together even if it was out of left(right?) field Trey

I don't think the segue into Light was really out of left field. They did it at the Austin City Limits festival too.

Here is a link to a (shitty) cover of Harry Hood my friend and I did. We haven't practiced it a lot but the jam is pretty good! Enjoy (or dont)

I play guitar and he does the flute and violin.

Thanks for the music Drew. I must say, I enjoyed the use of the flute and violin in this tune. Very unexpected!

Caught 2 Harry Hoods so far this past summer and I must say, Harry Hood is an amazing composition as well.

For the longest time, it was my favorite Phish tune, before it was replaced by my current (and probably forever) favorite, You Enjoy Myself.

I rarely sing along to Phish tunes live, but I can never resist a "Thank You Mr Hood" and a "I feel Good" at the end (just one though).

Cause it's so easy to feel good about hood.

Dan said he really liked the one from Randall's.

During our conversation at lunch today I mentioned how I thought the Hood chant and the soft ending initiated around 96-97 changed the "feel" of the song quite a bit for me. The call to Harry with no reply is much more desparate than the "Hood" response which makes it more demonstrative. It's a distinct change in the emotion of the song, and one that kind of contradicts the tension and release of the "thank you Mr Minor" refrain.

And the hard ending is much more triumphant and ending than the gradual drifting to an end, even as a set closer.

Just my two cents.

I agree, especially about the hard ending. And man that Hood from ALO is the king.

I also like the "I feel good!" ending. I think this song improves every time they play it, since 2009. Some of the 2009 - 2010 versions are really disappointing. I caught the Cuyahoga 2011 Hood > Have Mercy > Hood with a freakin Lizards tease. Trey was doing those fast Bowie style triplets. That Hood really gets high up there! I think it's one of the strongest peaking Hoods still in 2014. Yeah that Plinko thing from Woosta is beautifully melodic and grooves real sick but it doesn't peak like the Cuyahoga one. They've been doing a little extra with this song lately too, which I also like.

edit: just listened to that acoustic Harry Hood I posted earlier: OUCH. how embarrassing.

Drew, I listened to a few tunes on your page and found them enjoyable. I like the gypsy jazz sound you've got going with the violin and guitar.

Thanks Katie, you're kind to say that. I do love that stuff. If you dug too deep into my soundcloud you also probably found a bunch of weird stoned jams too  .
