Kill Devil Falls

Postby Moma Dave » Tue Sep 08, 2009 6:24 am

KDF is GREAT! My 4 year old LOVES it - rocks out to it at least 10 times a day and requests it in every car ride. He also digs Sugar Shack, Ocelot, Light and BWDTNL, Starting to dig STFTFP. HaHaHa! He calls Joy the new Phish! ;D

This one has definately grown on me the most of the new songs. I really don't see any similarity to Chalkdust other than that they are both rockers. This one just seems way blusier and old school (rock-wise, not Phish-wise).

^ I don't know about bluesy, it sounds like an uptempo rock and roll song to me. I've loved it from the beginning, considering it was the first song I ever saw live. Lyrics are a bit on the cheesy side, but so are a lot of other Phish lyrics. To me, the verses and chorus are fine, and then it's always a blistering jam once the singing is over with. Also, lately they've been taking it in semi-weird directions, so hopefully it will be super jammed out one day.
His soul swooned slowly as he heard the snow falling faintly through the universe and faintly falling, like the descent of their last end, upon all the living and the dead.

*Cough* Bonnaroo! *Cough, Cough* haha
But, yeah, I'd like to see them expand the new material more.
The only 2 really extended jams of new songs I think were 'Roo KDF and spac BDTNL

yeah i dig this one quite a bit. i'm learning to accept trey's 'autobiographical' writing, and this is one of the better 'all about me' songs.

it won't let me to the ground

This song has grown on me sooooo much. I've heard it at all my shows in 09 and it has delivered everytime. It did open up Wachavia night 2, and didnt lead to the best show :D But, as for this song as a whole it really rips. Trey seems to really get into it. Once this song starts seeing some more involvement from Paige it's gonna take off to places unknown to human kind.

When I first heard it at Jones beach on 6/2 I thought it messed up the flow of the set and the lyrics were stupid. Felt as though it would be better served as a Trey band song. Since they've had the opportunity to play it quite a bit, I really like it. The added verse at the end is a good addition too. Just seeing how many people were grooving their asses off to this song at shows last year put a smile on my face. It's their most danceable new tune which is what you want. I especially like the 11/29/09 version. It's a scorcher.

Trey is ruler over all that is musically holy in the 09/03 version..the band barely keeps up. He was in for the "kill" on this one. Holy God,

Just posted this to fb.....

The last time I was in Atlantic City, I witnessed this:

I'll be there a week from tomorrow night, and wouldn't mind hearin witnessing it again.
Go down in your own way
And everyday is the right day
And as you rise above the fear lines in his frown
You look down
Hear the sound of the faces in the crowd
