Lyrics:

Didn't get no sleep last night
I was thinkin' 'bout today
I try to keep things simple
But my brain gets in the way
I said "you need to rest now"
But my big head don't care
Now I can see that that's gonna be my problem right there

My problem right there
My problem right there
My powerful mind is my problem right there
I got no other problems of which I'm aware
I'm just too damn smart and that's gonna be my problem right there

Now peaches from Tulsa is calling again
I remember the time I went home with her friend
Now they both say their coming to be by my side
Ain't no room in this truck to take three for a ride

My problem right there
My problem right there
These women 'round here are my problem right there
And I can handle them all but they don't like to share
I got too much love that's my problem right there

Now I can stay up all night, No problem OK
But I'm often inclined to sleep through the day
In the shade of the heat I can nap anywhere
*Snoring Solo* honest to god there is a snoring solo
Now that's gonna be my problem right there

My problem right there
My problem right there
Brains, Women, and Sleep are my problem right there
Now look what this couch has done done to my hair
Looks like you got one more problem right there

Now I drank the last pull from my best corn liquor
Got nothing to eat but this half melted Snicker
And the bills just keep coming thicker and thicker
And that 'ol bill collector he gets slicker and slicker
And Mr. Policeman is looking for me
And I got this strange rash from a sting of a bee
But I got no other problems of which I'm aware
'cept I've lost everything and I don't really care

My problem right there
My problem right there
These problems right here are my problem right there
And they'll probably keep coming 'til I stop breathing in
Then that's gonna be my biggest problem right there
“Those who dance are considered insane by those who cannot hear the music.”

I love how it came after Maki and the dank reference. Kinda fitting. Nice song IMO

By the rules of being a Phish fan this isn't one you're really supposed to like, lacking jams and whatnot, but I kinda like it...there's a certain real-life connection with me right now, and it looks like it could be fun live...I can't pinpoint what influence the sound/arrangement reminds me of, but I think they were influenced by a pretty specific band on this one, maybe someone can help me out here
rather be on tour..

I kinda disagree. The whole "Problem right tehre, that's my problem right there" is definitely chorus material, but what it's really missing is a bridge, but I guess you kinda said that too. It seemed too short, but it also seems like a song that is going to be played pretty sparingly. Sometimes bridges just come later though. You know how the Landlady became part of PYITE, Asse Festival > Guelah, etc. Maybe Party Time will become the bridge to My Problem Right There. :lolno:

Yeah...there are some yappy people especially up in the seated area. And I hate that some people actually try to talk louder than the music. But we had a good spot for the 2nd set where everyone was really into the music.

Decent song, not great. I like the lyrics, although as noted, they are a bit repetitive (whether it be the chorus or the bridge).

^ Agreed. Saw it in Charleston, didn't know what it was at first, but when I listened to it, I liked it, and I think it got a pretty good crowd reaction. I see this one sticking around with changes being made over time.

Well, me too. Those are my two new favorite "slow songs". I fucking LOVE both of them when I see them at shows. I think I slightly prefer Joy, just because I love the lyric "We want you to be happy". I have a sticker that says that on the center of my steering wheel, and it makes me smile whenever I get in my car. True story. I don't understand all the hate that those two songs get.

^ Yeah it is, but the way they wrote it makes it upbeat. I think Trey wanted his tribute to her to be joyous and happy rather than all sad and melancholy. And it worked. That song always makes me grin like an idiot. The lady behind me at Charleston told me than seeing me smiling during Joy made her night. :D

This song has been stuck in my head for at least three weeks now on and off. No idea how it came to be there, but it's there.
