currently listening to the maze from 11-19-92, and i am loving it.

this is the version of Maze that really made me love this song. It never really did it for me, and I was driving home from a rough day at work and had this cranked and I was sucked in. Now it's become one of my favorite songs...

I think there are some shows in the early 90's when Phish was playing a bunch of Fee->Mazes
really I think it made for interesting seques at least. Check out 2-19-1993 Roxy ATL, GA.
The first time I heard it, I was not looking at the set list so it just threw me for a huge loop. I had to rewind to make sure that it was not a tape glitch.

I just had that happen to me too with the Fee>Maze. Mine was 4/16/92 however. Pretty interesting.

I NEVER liked any live versions of Maze until I finally saw it live myself at 7/21/00 in Cuyahoga. I don't know why but it opened my eyes to how good this song can be live. I definitely have a newer appreciation for the live versions I have...

Jeebus.

8/7/93 is high-energy stuff. Most "Maze"s are, but damn.

Trey is shredding.

"Maze" is one of those songs where I clearly prefer earlier versions of.

5-5-93 Palace Theater is a good one too - listen for a Mission Impossible tease from page
(and a funny vocal flub from trey in runaway jim)

Whoa!

7-7-2000 has them segueing into a sped-up version of "Shafty" and then back into "Maze."

Pretty good stuff.

This is a song I can get sick of... but then I don't listen for a while, and I am back on the bandwagon.

The whole Trey takes a solo, than Page solos, then they all come back together... I begin to just expect the parts.

But then I don't hear the song for a long while, and realize.... holy geez, this song rocks!

2-26-03 is pretty good stuff. Frenetic and high-energy, as all "Maze's" should be.

6/18/94 is very intense and very focused.

12/31/94 is a spacey interesting version

2 words...AL PINE.

Probably the highlight of my whole 4 show run. I didn't see it coming and then BAM! It just raged and raged until it could do nothing more. Trey and Page both just peaked hard.

The Went Maze is sick. Mike kills this one. Something about the bass in the dark versions of this song has always sounded like an homage to Roger Waters, but better.

The 1996 Deer Creek version is quite lovely, I just pulled that one up now.

Alpine one of the best glowstick wars ever I think. maybe I'm biased since it was my first show but that was epic.
