Since iTunes has added a bunch of new Live Phish CDs, I was wondering what you all suggest. ( i know i can get them free other places- I'm just wondering)

I specifically am wondering about the official live phish releases, even though all live phish is great.

The Olivia's Pool show. I actually know a well connected tour girl named Olivia Pool. Is that Denver '97?

The ones I listen to the most of the LP series are:

11-27-98
9-14-00 (even though the show completely peters out after "Crosseyed" jam)
11-17-97
8-13-96
8-14-93

I think you'll find with these 5 shows you'll get a little bit of everything: improv, tight jamming, wackiness, funk, rock, and overall Phish goodness.

My Favorites are 11/17/97, 7/15/98, and 5/7/94 problably.

Really hard to pick though, they are all solid shows, so it just depends on personal tastes/interests..
Read the Book, for that matter read any book.

11/17/97, 8/14/93, 8/13/93, 'ween '96, '98, and 6/22/94 are my favorites.

12/14/95 and 11/27/98 certainly aren't bad, either.

I'd stay away from 7/8/00 and 6/14/00. Not that they're bad, I just think there are many better shows to choose from, although many people do have more favorable opinions of the 6/14/00 show than I do.

You just shut your face right now, mister!

Just kidding. Will hates the fact that 6/14/00 was released, and if you looked up "average Phish show" in the dictionary, 7/8/00 would be listed. But I do think 7/8/00 is a good place for a new listener to start.

I wasn't serious. 2000 is nothing to write home about. It's got it's moments. Everyone likes to carve out a "Phish niche," and that's mine, for better or worse.

Actually (and surprisingly, perhaps), I listened to that one quite a bit after first purchasing it. 7-8-00 was my first purchase, but that one could have been second, I don't remember.

The second set is great, but the Hood is one of my all-time favorites.

I believe someone already mentioned this, but anything in August of '93 is amazing.

That Gin from Murat is pure epicness!

A good listen to Big Cypress or The Went is always recomended . . .

I'm surprised nobody has said 12/7/97. Super funky Tube, great second set, Day in the Life encore. I bought that right when it came out, and I don't usually buy my Phish shows.

6-14-00 is no doubt a good show. 6-22-94 is awesome and so is 5-7-94 as far as released live phish goes. I know people dont agree but 7-10-99 (wilson>chalkdust especially) is the show that brought me in.

The first set of 7/10/99 is one of my favorites, but I almost never listen to the second set, so I can't really say that the show is one of the best LP releases. If I were to rank all 20 shows, I'd probably put 7/10/99 somewhere in the middle.

^ i love that antelope. the one where fishman is on the electrolux during the esquandolas break. i heard the antelope from colorado 88 on LP radio yesterday and the run run run part includes a rather humorous story of how fishman was trippin ball hiking around the mountains before a show and got lost. hahahah

7/10/99 Tweezer dance beats, and a skyrocketing chalk dust. Definately good stuff but I agree with jbarker, second set isnt anything like set one.

Necro-bump

Probably since 2015, 90% of all the shows I listen to have been show I attended (which means ~86% of what I listen to is 3.0).

You might be scratching your head thinking, "Why would anybody listen to only shows they have attended? Why would anybody listen to predominately 3.0 shows?"

I used to have a hard drive full of audience recordings. Well over 100 shows from the 90's + 2003. When I moved in the summer of 2014, this hard drive went missing. So I started only listening to shows of which I had hard copies. This consisted of a couple dozen official releases, the shows I attended (less 6.21.2009, 8.11.2009, 7.19.2013, & 7.21.2013), and about a dozen audience recordings that I got in the early days of my obsession via B&P.

(The Hard Drive also stored a novella length piece of fiction that I was proud of and took me quite a long time to write, but that is neither here nor there.)

I need your show recommendations! Then I will do an Etree search.

-OR- If any of you would be willing to share a favorite show via Dropbox, PM me and I will shoot you my email addy.

^ ISO date format - Right on. I will add that show to the list. I have to say that I am surprised to see the first recommendation is a show from 1992, because some people (pretty much all of .net) ignore anything before 1993.

Also, when I posted I didn't realize that this was a Live Phish SERIES thread. I'm glad it is clear that I am not requesting official releases.
