basic, must-have shows

Postby willbreathes » Mon Oct 24, 2005 1:47 am

Well... If you really figured eTree out, you would probably know you cannot get any show you want at any time. You have to see what is uploaded each day, and if you really really need a show, you can put up a request.

But anyways... Must have shows for someone who does not have much:

12/7/97
2/20/93
......

Actually, just go here : http://www.phish.net/faq/classic.html

basic, must-have shows

Postby yem » Mon Oct 24, 2005 1:51 am

My favorites:

The Halloween shows (have them)
11/27/98 (I have it if you need it, and I'm close)
The Island Tour (have them too)
2/20/93 (get it on bt)
5/8/93 (get it on bt)
6/22/94 (have it on CD if you want to burn)

Some others that are good but not essential:
5/7/94 (have this one)
12/29/94 (have this on CD)
7/3-7/4/99 (about to get these on CD)
11/9/95 (Looking for this one)
8/13/96 (have this on CD)

I think you're in Atlanta, so I could come to your house and import some/all of my Phish CD's into your computer if you really want them.

most of those are official releases that you can purchase somewhere.

7.20.98 is solid, as is 7.17.98.

6.28.00
7.10, 7.11, 7.12.00
any summer or fall 97

basic, must-have shows

Postby grabs666 » Mon Oct 24, 2005 5:29 am

3/22/93 Sacramento: Gamehedge
12/30/93 Portland: 2ed set, Mikes Groove especially!
6/18/94 UIC
10/7/00 Shoreline
2/28/03 New York

Thats a good start! I like these for this thread because they are strong, but not hard to listen too. No 40 minute jams of ambiant noise, or a million teases that a newbie wouldn't recognize, or in jokes. Just solid, unforgettable Phish at its best.

OR any fall '98.
I think the fall '98 tour is vastly underrated. Surprise Fillmore show, Vegas, Dark Side, UIC, Hampton, Worcester...

Personally my second favorite tour!

basic, must-have shows

Postby edison » Thu Oct 27, 2005 2:51 am

must-haves.... i will inevitably miss a shitload because this is all off the top of my head...

3/4/85
11/21/91
7/25/92
2/20/93
3/31/93
5/5/93 - YEM!!!
7/24/93
8/20/93
8/28/93
12/31/93
5/7/94
6/11/94
6/13/94
6/18/94
10/31/94
11/3/94
11/26/94 (arguably better than the providence bowie, but this will NOT be argued by me...)
11/28/94 - tweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezer
12/29/94 - the providence bowie...
6/24/95
6/2/6/95
6/28/95
7/1/95 - beautiful hood

basically the entire fall/winter 95 tour, but here are a few:

10/21/95
10/31/95 - yemmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
11/14/95 - stashhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (check out the lemmonwheel archives for a great fm of this one. absolutely huge)
11/30/95
12/02/95
12/07/95
12/09/95 - the yem is up there with ween 95 for my two favorite
12/14/95
12/17/95
12/29/95
12/31/95 - coming out officially on dec. 20. thank god. pre-97 phish doesn't get ANY BETTER than this one. and very little post-97 gets better either.
8/16/96 - absolutely classic show from the first day of the first festival
8/17/96 - a wonderful way to end the first festival, although nowhere near as good as 8/16
12/6/96 - simple-paug is sublime, and the encore (if you get it on video) is priceless.

basically the entire summer tour and esp. fall/winter tour 97:
6/20/97
7/1/97
7/2/97
7/3/97 - an awful setlist, but a STELLAR ghost
7/9/97
7/23/97
7/25/97
7/29/97
8/6/97
8/16/97
8/17/97
AHHHHHHHH THE FALL/WINTER TOUR!!!!! GET IT ALL!!! I WON'T EVEN SUGGEST A SINGLE SHOW!!! okay, except for the hampton shows... and 12/02.... and 11/17.... 11/29 - RUNAWAY JIM!!!... 12/6, 12/9

ISLAND TOUR!!! all of it! 4/2-4/5/98. get it. get it now.

i'm tired. if this is too much for you, focus on the few 93 shows i mentioned, the 94 shows, the fall/winter 95, the 96 clifford ball, the 12/6/96 show, summer and fall/winter 97 (all of it. seriously, ALL of it), and the island tour. which i suppose is basically everything that i suggested. but yeah. rock it all.

basic, must-have shows

Postby ghost_2000 » Mon Oct 31, 2005 3:50 am

I just heard 7/22/97 Walnut Creek for the first time and it is a pretty solid show. Especially the "Jim," "Vultures," "Taste" and "Mikes Groove." I had heard many good things about the "Disease -> Mike's" segue so I wanted to find out myself. Trey really creeps up on it, but the crowd can tell. VERY loud cheering and roaring. I got goosebumps.

Great show, get it if you don't already have it.

basic, must-have shows

Postby headynugs » Wed Nov 30, 2005 6:51 am

Hello everyone my name is Joe, and I'm addicted to soundboards.

I consider my self somewhat of a new phish fan (been listening for about 2 years) and i was wondering if you more experienced fans could help me find some good soundboard shows. I already have:
4/3/98, 4/5/98, 4/26/96, 7/29/03, 12/01/03, 12/30/03 and Live Phish volumes: 2 4 11 12 13 16 and 18

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

basic, must-have shows

Postby goldenroad » Fri Dec 02, 2005 12:20 am

I think that 11/7/96 is a must-have that no one seems to have...Get it! The Gin is basically the whole 2nd set!
I also just downloaded 11/27/92 from the Capitol theatre in NY! wow, what a show! The first set starts Rift > Wilson > Divided Sky > Colonel Forbins > Mockingbird > Melt! It has a super tight Reba, wild Possum and I haven't even heard the third disc, but there is a McGrupp, I walk the Line and a Bowie with McGrupp and I walk the Line teases. I have a nice SBD copy I believe...check it out.
Also for '92, (a very overlooked year), check out any show from april you can get your hands on...they were on fire.
