hope there isn't a thread about this but i couldn't find one, so... having just listened to the second set of 2-20-93, i'm interested to hear of some other favorite/original teases that have been thrown into jams...

the brady bunch themed antelope from 8-28-93 was interesting to hear, and i like the ce & p and "I feel Free" teases thrown into the 11-19-97 wolfmans.

other good ones?

Original, as in teasing their own songs? Bowie from 11-2-90 and Possum from 3-28-93 are worth checking out.

Two of my favorites that I got to see are Bowie from 5-8-93 (Jessica) and 12-30-93 (Dream On).

Townsend Family Park '89 (aka LivePhish #9)

i beleive Page drops a little Pink Panther flavor in the beginning of Hood. and it flows so nice i didn't even think about it at first.

There is a great "Rock Lobster" (by the B-52's) tease in the 11/21/95 Bowie > Take Me 2 The River > Bowie, right after the TMTTR...I know not many people have this show...but believe me, it is worth it for this jam.

"Manteca"

1998 had a lot of those. Very distinct.

I always like to hear trey tease stash. I've heard it often in the beginning of antelope.

One I am just thinking about right now is MIke teasing frankenstein during his yem closing bass solo on the IT DVD.

The bach tease at the beginning of 2001 on 2.21.03----what an odd, yet cool tease

7.11.00 the moby dick tease in the begginning of HOOD

OHH Yeah--12.30.03 During the jam section of 2001, trey begins teasing George Clinton's "Make my funk a P-funk, I want to get funked up" (hinting at what would happen in the second set) and eventually leading the entire band into a short tease of the song...the American Airlines Arena exploded. THat was a Great moment of my trip to Miami (among others).

This is a great thread

To go along with what Will posted about 8/9/93, I think there's a Nellie Cane tease during Divided Sky in that show as well.
Thanks again for the awesome show!

took the words right out of my mouth. that's also my favorite tease.

i also enjoy the random Stash teases, which seems to be the most regular original tune that is teased.

Maybe 6-24-94 should go into the "Best used Segues" thread instead of here.

^ if you're talking about the disease jam/tease in that antelope, then i think it's cool right here. it's not exactly a segue. but they did play disease to close that set, so a well used tease indeed.

and also, the Star Lake show in '99 starts with AC/DC and then right after fishman starts playing the intro to Maze and then right where the guitar is supposed to come in they drop right into Cities. very cool!

sorry if i ruined it for anybody but you should find that show anyways for the rare(only?) and really good cover of a song called Gold Soundz by Pavement i think.

3/13/92 Antelope starts with a "Somewhere over the rainbow" tease, as does the set two opener Wilson.
