Beverly Hills Cop or as Trey Yells, Ghostbusters in the soundcheck for 3-28-1993 Humbolt CA, then in the Antelope he revisits the soundcheck Beverly Hills Cop, which is what the tease really is. Also in the same Antelope there is I believe the Andy Griffin Show whistle. Great show by the way, spectacular It's Ice, SOAM, Maze, tasty 93.

this is one where I can't really tell if it is a "tease" or a "jam."

I'm leaning towards "jam," although it is not really in full swing...

7-25-99, "YEM," Trey starts teasing the "boogie on" riff, and everyone else sort of picks up. it even sort of carries on into the vocal jam!

^We called it a tease that night and heard some "I Wish" teases as well. I think it was in the Suzy!

For some reason I always believed that when they teased their own tunes, it was sending a message to the other bandmates. As in to say "I'd like to go into this tune...", but then the other guys don't agree and keep on the original plan of the song.

Wierd teases like The Brady Bunch and Beverly Hills Cop....I have no theories on that. I guess I'm still working on that one...

What do you all mean by a Beverly Hills Cop tease? Are you taliking about a certain song that was in Beverly Hills Cop? If so, which one? There's, The Heat Is On, The Neutron Dance, New Attitude and Axel F to name a few. Are any of those what you guy's are talking about?

^nah, Im talking about the little melody that gets played throughout the Beverley Hills Cop movie, check out tela.sugarmeg.orgs version of 3-28-93. It should contain the soundcheck, in the soundcheck they are messing with this little ditty. Then they bust it out during the show in Antelope.

It's kinda like how in the godfather movies there is the godfather theme song that gets played often.

Hope that helped clear things up. Check it out if you get the time, one of my fav's.

This isn't a favorite tease or anything, but I was just listening to the 12/31/92 show, and at the very end of Divided Sky, Page does a real quick Jeopardy tease, I thought it was pretty interesting, lol!

I just notice an AWESOME tease!

7.18.93

During the third and final section of Antelope, they go into an all-out Brother tease! (all-out meaning every band member follows, and they play a bar or two before continuing the song they were playing). Very cool stuff!

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, SOMEONE POINT OUT THE "ROCK AND ROLL" TEASE IN THE HAMPTON '98 "BATHTUB GIN" BEFORE I POKE MY EYES OUT WITH A STICK.

I haven't heard that Gin in years. Maybe I will pull that out tonight, though.

Unless its a Phish song being teased, or its incredibly obvious (like the Brick House teases in the 12.9.95 YEM), I'm terrible at identifying teases. I hear Trey teasing something, and I know I recognize it from somewhere, but for the life of me I can't put my finger on it. This happens to me all the time.

That is one of my favorite "Gin's." You really should listen to it tonight.

I would say I'm fairly adept at identifying teases...unless it's a "Rock and Roll" tease inside a "Bathtub Gin." Then, I'm fucked.

12/30/1999...Set 3...Mike's Song
Trey teases the acapella (Plant screaming) intro from Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin at about 4:20. I think he goes through it twice. Maybe just ten seconds. This isn't listed in The Companion. Now I feel special or something. Yeah...special ed.

12-28-97...Set 2...Scent of a Mule
During the "Muel Duel" Trey teases part of the opening guitar from Roundabout by Yes. (5:40-6:00) This is in The Companion. I looked it up when I heard the tease in the song. Hearing teases in Phish songs is so much fun, especially the first time. Phish is so much fun.

"Weekapaug Groove"

Trey teases "Auld Lang Syne" a few times during the first few moments of the jam. I love the crowd reaction! Yeah! Of all the teases I've ever heard from Phish, this one is in my top-5. It's not like it's some random song that comes out of nowhere (they obviously had just performed it), but still...I love it.

I just noticed a very slight tease at the very end of Cavern (set 1, 7.30.93). Page teases the beginning of Esther...or I suppose it could also be the "fall down" secret language as well. They sound the same.

I was listening to 12/29/97 on my way to work this morning. During the Tube jam I can hear an "I feel the earth move" quote from Page. I know as fans we tend to try to look for meaning in jams and songs too much sometimes. But I couldnt help but think that he did that because when you're getting your groove on in MSG you really can feel the earth move. Because its on top of Penn Station you can kinda catch jumps the way one would when jumping on a trampoline with another person. Not quite as bouncy of course. I think Trey even mentions this in the next nights Harpua.
