Got any soundchecks with wacky songs never played at shows? I am listening to 11-2-91 right now with a crazy soundcheck. First it's Sweet Jane>Sweet Jane vocal jam, Gimme 3 steps, Rocketman. the first set that follows is pretty sweet as well!

Set I: Suzy Greenberg, The Curtain, Llama, Reba, Paul and Silas, Foam, Bouncing Around the Room, Colonel Forbin's Ascent > The Famous Mockingbird, Possum

Not the best played, but fun to hear.

7-6-97 in Italy. Soundcheck madness! Starts with Sampson Variation, kind of ambiant music, written by Ernie Stires (Trey's compsition teacher), then into Olivia's Pool. After that you can hear church bell's ringing and Trey (weakly) tries Hell's Bells. After that, straight into Kareoke Limbo! "No more guys, we gotta get some girls up here!" Other hilarity ensues

I love that Funky Bitch. Short but very well-played.

I wonder if the soundcheck that Tweezer was born out of exists somewhere. Anyone know the date?

that's an interesting thought. surely it exists somewhere. whether it circulates is another matter.

i wanna say 3-3-90 Wetlands show? can anyone verify this for sure? i'm basing it off of phish.net/setlists/1990

No, that's when it debuted. The song emerged from a soundcheck jam for 12/31/89. I bet that's a hard tape to find.

Where'd you find out that's when it emerged? That'd be really cool to track down a tape of that.

11-27-98 is up on sugarmegs.
Great sound quality.

they (mostly Trey) even use ambiguous lyrics - much like the original - during "Louie, Louie!"

Rolling Stone recently posted an interview with Phish frontman Trey Anastasio focusing on the band’s upcoming tour. Anastasio was asked about the possibility of Phish releasing a box set of soundchecks and Trey thought it was a great idea

“I am a huge soundcheck fan. That is a great idea.” Big Red added,

38 tracks were culled from Phish’s officially released soundchecks dating back to a brief clip from their August 13, 1993 show in Indianapolis compiled by Andy Kahn. Unsurprisingly, soundcheck and former FOH soundman Paul Languedoc’s favorite “Dog Log” makes four appearances in the over five hour-long playlist. It’s presented chronologically, from their oldest rehearsal to their most recent officially released soundcheck.
