My favorite Jerry quote: " I want to like UM more than I do."

The thing I have against Dead & Co. is I feel like they're worth the $50 tickets, but I can't justify anything above that, but that's just me.

shit now i wanna rent a car and make the drive to blossom lol terr's so close but DeadCo shows were pretty fun so far

I was very close to making the drive myself but couldn't swing the time off.

but it basically had jerry saying something like "if i spend all my life working really hard at something then maybe after i'm gone no one can tear it down". and it sat so wrongly with me like i just felt it couldn't be right it didn't sound like jerry. and it wasn't.

Without even looking it up, that just doesn't seem like Jerry at all. He's too nice to be tearing down bands like that, especialy given how many covers the Dead did.

The thing I have against Dead & Co. is I feel like they're worth the $50 tickets, but I can't justify anything above that, but that's just me.

Sadly, most shows go for at least that these days so it's hard to really hold out anymore. But, yeah, I just grab lawn seats for these anyway. Just need to be in the building.

I understand. But I enjoyed a good Ratdog show for $35 too!

To be fair, I'd be surprised if Ratdog toured right now I doubt it would be a $35 ticket. But maybe. Personally I don't think Mayer is worth the gas to get there. To each their own.
rather be on tour..

^To be fair, Dead & Co is certainly playing at bigger venues and has more actual Dead members than Ratdog. Both things probably factor in to the higher cost. With that said, I loved Ratdog at the small venue I saw them in last time.

And I'm the same abount making the drive. I like Dead & Co but not drive-two-states-away-to-see-them kind of like. Plus almost every one of these shows has been getting streamed this tour so that's been scratching the itch for me.

I had the same reaction when I saw them last year. Just didn't quite buy the Mayer thing until I saw them live.

First set was pretty straight forward good stuff. Then a huge finish with Big Railroad Blues, one of my favorites.

Second set was amazing throughout. I was a little bit concerned about who was taking the lead on Wharf Rat... don't really care for Bobby singing Jerry songs, but this one was perfect.

Oh, and the easy highlight of the entire night....

Good weekend shows at Wrigley. Managed to stream both with some good quality. Second set in both shows seemed loaded, especially on Friday.

Jerry "Before the Dead" Box Set comin' at you this May. If you ever wondered what Jerry sounded like when he was 19 years old, here is your chance to find out.

I'm definitely interested in listening to this, but I am in no way interested in buying it.

Rhino Records is releasing a 50th anniversary edition of Anthem of the Sun. It is going to be a two disc release. The first disc is the original mix of the album and the '71 remix.

Dave Lemieux wrote: The 1971 remix, produced in order to make the album more accessible to the newer fans who were brought on board with Workingman’s Dead and American Beauty, has been the most commonly heard version for the past 45+ years. However, having this side-by-side with the original 1968 mix demonstrates countless differences, with the original mix being more primal, psychedelic, and experimental.

The second disc is a complete show from Winterland, San Francisco, CA, 10/22/67

Morning Dew
New Potato Caboose
It Hurts Me Too
Cold Rain & Snow
Turn On Your Love Light
Beat It On Down The Line
That’s It For The Other One

The Dead turns out box sets, anniversary editions, and oddities so frequently that I don't bother with 95% of it, but I'm thinking I might pick this one up.

The initial set list I posted is incorrect. The 1st set ends with One More Saturday Night, and the 2nd set is:

Ramble on Rose
Sugar Magnolia
Cryptical Envelopment
Drums
The Other One
Me And My Uncle
The Other One
Wharf Rat
Not Fade Away
Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad
Not Fade Away

That said - That second set... lordy, lordy. **fans self**
