Been trying to watch all the George Carlin standup specials. I think there is 13 of them on there. Only available through 9/15, so get on it if your interested. "What Am I Doing In New Jersey?" is one of my favorites along with "Jammin In New York."
Well over the weekend I started to watch (again) the Tudors. Last attempt I stopped around Season 3 but it's been so long I had to restart from the beginning.
I love the costume & set design of period shows, even their jewelry / accessories are interesting to me.
Showtime has put up many more of their original series for On Demand, which also translates to Netflix, I believe. One show I am looking forward to re-watching, once I've forgotten enough of the details, is the Spartacus series, esp. Seasons 1 & 2... Lucy Lawless is superb in this!
Maybe I'll check this Tudors show out. Lot's of people have told me I'd like it.
What I'm kind of enjoying, but not entirely sold on yet is the new Netflix From Dusk Til Dawn series. Anyone watch any of that? I'm about 4 episodes in, and it feels like it's trying a little too hard to cop things right from the movie. Whereas Fargo feels almost like a new story told in the Fargo universe, this just feels like the directors trying to stretch a 90 minute movie into a 10 hour series and the only real substantial changes just feel like padding. I don't think the acting is great, especially the lead character, who it feels like is just doing a subpar George Clooney impression the whole time, and it's like "hey, leave the subpar George Clooney stuff to George Clooney." The thing is, I kind of really like the movie, so having it just stretched out to 10 hours isn't really a bad thing in my books, but I wonder what other people think of it.
^^The thing to me is: is Dusk Til Dawn really worthy of a TV show? It’s an…okay…movie and kinda weird in how it dramatically shifts from a clever Tarantino movie to a pure action movie. And what else can you get out of that?...They stumble into a bar and fight vampires…that’s the plot. Fargo has a lot more going on and a lot to so that’s probably why that works. Weird decision. Out of all the Tarantino movies that I’d adapt to a show, that would be one of the last ones I’d pick.
^I get jacked every time I see Cheech in anything.
For some reason, I started watching The 100 and surprisingly really enjoyed it. I seem to have a hard-on for post-apocalyptic shows where humanity has to start over.
I've been doing this a long time and have seen lots of changes most of which I can't fucking stand...but I still go anyway because I'm there for the MUSIC and so I tolerate all that other bullshit because I DO get the point. So there
I have given up on House of Cards. It is a joyless affair. Well written, but sterile. It is directed with pinpoint precision, but with zero warmth or heart. It feels like it was written by a Japanese computer programmed to create art, but is incapable of love.
Well, here we are, Mr. Pilgrim, trapped in the amber of this moment. There is no why. ~4~
^Like that. Am having a difficult time getting through this season. Watched the first two or three episodes and seemed to have lost interest.
Go down in your own way And everyday is the right day And as you rise above the fear lines in his frown You look down Hear the sound of the faces in the crowd
Wilfred ended. I'm sad. The 4th season was a little obnoxious taking to many weird, wannabe twists that went nowhere, but still, that shit was funny.
