Yes, Petco is a really nice stadium AND the weather is always nice in San Diego, so it's a win win. So, even though the Padres and Tigers stink, it's still fun just to be there. Plus, the folks here really embrace the Padres, unlike the Chargers. Anyway, planning on going to see the Nationals when they're in town and also the Pirates, just because I've never seen the Pirates in person. Been in an AL city most of my life so gotta check out some NL teams!

Happy Odin's Day!!!

Good morning Bill! Nice to see you back on the 'Pa!!!

Yes, I took a job at the U of San Diego, but still have my house in Nevada, so I go back about once a month. Going back for a long holiday weekend this weekend, and, as a bonus, recreational pot is available in Nevada July 1! Going to pick up some goodies while I'm there!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

^^Nice Sean. San Diego is a beautiful city. Next time I'm out there for work, I'll let you know.

In the meantime, it's old home week again. Just left themomadans at the annual Lakehurst base picnic. Dan was there supporting the Toms River Library, and we hung out talking while I criticized the local band that was playing. They actually would have been decent if I had followed through and executed their drummer.

Good to see Dan. Will be seeing he and Dave on Thursday for lunch and work our strategies for the bakers dozen. Of course Dan will be at nine shows at least. oh, to be young, strong, unattached and with money.

I'm into the Raiders. I think they'll do well. I "lose" the Chargers here in SD but gain the Raiders in LV. Sounds like a good plan to me!!!

I like the hockey team too, but not the jerseys. Those Knights jerseys are U-G-L-Y!!!! They could have done so much more with them. Could have done something better than that name too, like the Scorpions, Mustangs, ec...

Yes, please do!! So many fun things to do down here. We'll have to go surfing at Ocean Beach!!!

Yeah, I'd say that's an upgrade. The Chargers in LA is going to be such a non-factor...I mean, if they thought opposing fans were taking over their stadium before, just wait. The Raiders just seem to fit Vegas and their fans are rabid enough that I don't think a lot of them will bail.

I like the hockey team too, but not the jerseys. Those Knights jerseys are U-G-L-Y!!!!

I still don't get why they had to be the "Golden Knights." Just "Vegas Knights" sounds nice and has a cool double-meaning to it. I wonder if down the road they'll just drop the "Golden" part like how the Mighty Ducks dropped the "Mighty" thing.

Really looking forward to this weekend if only because it's 4 days off. Can't wait. Heavily leaning to seeing Steve Miller/Frampton. Never seen either and it's better than nothing.

And just a short train ride from the venue. I'm so jealous. I was making arrangements with someone to buy their hotel and tickets for the 22-23 for a great price and they have just stopped responding to me. Gotta love inconsiderate people. Actually, no, you don't. Unless they're your family or something. Otherwise, they're just assholes. Meanwhile, waiting for this person to respond to me, I lost out on another hotel for a great price.

^The "outrage" of the fans in that article is hilarious. "How dare you not provide me the use of your site for free! I'm taking my business in which I pay you nothing elsewhere, dammit!"

Just saw the .net thread about this and came here to ask if it was you, based on your username. Guess it is. Major suckage. Hopefully things will fall into place.

We had something similar happen hee a few years ago with people helping out with on sales and then never coming though with the payment. Lame.

Sorry for posting when it isn't morning for me. 8-)

I had a similar story with Tom Petty tickets this year. Each year me and like four/five coworkers hit a show each summer. Usually it's Dave Matthew's Band but they're off this year so I suggested Tom Petty this time. So I get orders to get like six tickets for folks and it goes on sale and then one of the gals said her husband somehow knows someone who knows someone who knows Petty's wife or is distantly related to them or some crap like that. It seemed ridiculous even at that time.

I should have just bought the tickets there but I'd let them entertain their dumb idea over Christmas break. So, of course, nothing came of it and I go to get tickets anyway and it's sold out...I didn't expect it to sell out in a week at all and the only reason I waited was this stupid idea of somehow getting free tickets. I still went and got a ticket for myself on the third-party market since there's no way I'm missing Petty but now they're marked up and expensive and no one else wants to spend that much to see Petty and it basically killed the event for the year since there's really nothing else that all those folks can relate to see.

So yeah, relying on friends is a bad idea and you should just go get stuff yourself...especially when there's a limited supply on something.

And nothing bugs me more than someone being wishy-washy on a show and they usually go with the "I don't know what I'll be doing then" excuse...And I'm always thinking: "Well, if you get a ticket, you'll know exactly what you'll be doing and can plan around it." The whole thing feels like an excuse to say no but they're trying to be polite and not say no but they're actually being more annoying by not just saying no since it puts my own plans in limbo. I'm to the point where anytime someone plays the "I'm not sure" game with a show, I just get myself the ticket and, if they want to add on late, that's their problem.

Good morning OKP!

It is feels weird that today is the last work day of the week (in my case), and I don't have any plans for the weekend (just the way I like it)! Since next weekend will be a bit expensive (THREE DAYS OF PHISH!), I am not spending any money this weekend. Reading + Disc Golf = free and fun weekend!

It's pretty nice having only a 3-day work week. Have no plans this weekend either but, like you say, it'll be getting busier next week.

Can't wait for Friday to roll around and I can get some choppy, muffled stream of the shows all weekend. THEN Game of Thrones starts up this Sunday. Then I get Tom Petty that next Tuesday and the day off Wednesday. Just have to make it through the week.

^I'm anticipating a webcast announcement sometime this week, along with the latest version of Live Bait perhaps?

Had a lovely weekend. Went in a short but enjoyable 5 mile hike in a regional park that has some new growth redwoods and some stunning views of the bay. Back to work and happy to be in a week where Phish will be playing!

Yeah, they seemed to like streaming the multi-show weekends so I hope PA gets the treatment. Though, it's a lil trickier to find streams since they seem to be onto NNJimmy...he was just streaming Dead & Company earlier this month and then that channel got shut down too. Either way, there's always audio.

The Summer of the Tempest - Part 2 - The Great Deluge:

Last night, houses in my area had to be evacuated via boat. A neighboring town recorded 7 inches of rain last night. I am lucky that I live far enough from the lakes and rivers that the flooding hasn't affected my house, but my commute is f-ed regularly. Flash floods are taking out roads on a weekly basis. One day in late June, I was stranded at work because of the floods. The flooding is washing away the ballasts that support our railroad tracks, so train service is f-ed. The river is flooded and rising. Power is out all over the place. It has been like this all summer.

All forecasts suggest that Northerly Island (50 miles south-east of me) will be dry this weekend. I am cautiously optimistic.

^Weather reports are funny though...there was nothing but reports that the Metallica show at Comerica Park last night would be crushed by Thunderstorms. I was even listening to a radio show at noon of people saying they "wished it was just postpone." Meanwhile, it didn't rain at all and the weather at the show was beautiful. It's funny how, despite getting constant evidence to the contrary, people still act like weather reports are the gospel truth.

Also, I just noticed that Mike is coming to Michigan on 10/1 which I'm pretty sure if the first time he's come here. I haven't listened to anything he's done but I still kinda want to go. Even funnier is I have tickets for Paul McCartney for 10/2 so it'd be two nights in a row...I even tried getting tix for Paul's 10/1 show and couldn't because there were barely any available so it kind of seems like destiny.

I'm right there with you. I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid, just trying to stay positive. There has been so much rain that I can't imagine three consecutive evenings without rain, but they tell me it isn't going to rain so I have some hope. They have radars and all sorts of formulae and all the jazz. I have what I have seen out my window for the past month or more, and horrific memories of Northerly 2013. I'm going with them, but won't be surprised when...

Did you guys hear about this Iceberg? They say I can't blame climate change...for now, so I have been trying to find something else to blame, and I believe I have found the culprit: Big Cartography. Think about it. Who has the most to gain? An iceberg the size of Delaware breaks off of Antarctica, dramatically changing the physical geography of not just the continent, but the entire world. The globes that you have prominently displayed in your offices or dens, are no longer accurate. The maps that you keep in your map rooms, or if your home doesn't have a map room - your map cabinets, are no longer the correct revision. (The maps of the whole world and of Antarctica at the very least.) Millions of people will have to run out their local map stores to buy new maps, atlases, and globes. Sounds like Rand McNally is about to cash in.
