OKP Chess Tournament - The Sequel

Postby lifeandhowtoliveit » Mon Aug 28, 2006 5:14 pm

You know, the chess thing with Mike seemed like a really fun idea, it's been a fairly long time since all of this happened, so I had the idea that we could have a new tournament just within the OKP. Also I missed out with the Mike thing, and I'd love to test my skills against you guys!

So anyone with me? I could organise if necessary but it seems Zoot did a great job last time. Greg is also doing the OKP tour but I'm sure he could be involved..

i'll call the hotline (212-330-9092) now to see if i can leave a message, it's been all sorts of messed up the last few times i tried, all staticky and tuff to hear

eveybody else follow suit until all his messages are from OKPah peeps telling him we want a rematch

already been rejected.

so who chooses who plays and on what days and what if a big move lands on somebody's turn that sucks, and what if mike wants to play backgammon instead?

and i always liked "Go to the Head of the Class", can we play that with Page next week?

Well I suppose we could try to contact Mike again, but in any case we could have a tourny of our own, with the prize for the winner (2nd place, third etc.) being a good stash of shows or something..

Shall we start:

1. lifeandhowtoliveit

(also, perhaps a Mod could sticky this or have it made an annoucement on the front page or something)

Let's have a continuous list..

1. LIFEANDHOWTOLIVEIT
2. Guelah

Firstly, it seems like we are all systems go on this idea..my question is whether Zoot should organise it again, or if I should, seeing as it was my idea.

Secondly, I think it would be great if we had seeded players. We want this to be as fair as possible, and it would be a shame not having 'the best players' given the best opportunities..

^hah..we could do an OKP backgammon/poker tournemant..but chess is better in my opinion..also it has more connection to Phish, hence them playing in it 95..

EDIT - a round robin mini league format could also be cool..

Once we have a good list I'll post all the rules and stuff..looks like I'm organising it?

So that means I'll sign you up ay McCarthy?

Also seeing as Mike doesn't have any touring commitments..we could get him to do it again pretty easily...

OKP Chess Tournament - The Sequel

So, this is a tournament with just us OKPers?

I'm not a very good chess player...

I pretty much only know the basics, the names of pieces and how they can move. I'll try to read up on some tactics and what not becuase I've really been meaning to, but until then I'm of no help...
