So it's not really a dress at all. People hear that the drummer wears a dress and they think of a drag queen or, at best, Klinger from MASH. It's more of a drumming tunic.

That's kind of what a Phish festival feels like.

Been listening to the Phish Destroys America compilation on youtube, and it reminds me how great '97 was but also how much I love the 3.0 sound. Getting amped for tour.

I almost saw it in an amusement park... twice. Darien Lake & Hershey.

i really wish i'd seen this band in an amusement park.

Even with the ferris wheels, I never tried going on one. The only reason I was going to the concert grounds is when the band was on and I'm not going to be on the wheel during the show.

i got on this kick listening to the Scarlet>Fire from Kingswood amusement park in Ontario in 87!!!

that crowd is friggin PAAMMPED every tune the dead dropped that show its electric. Darien 97 was perhaps realistic except we were camping/lolligagging our way from Deer Creek to Great Went instead of going to Star Lake and Darien... ooops lollll

oh! and i can kinda see that festival/amusement park comparison and in that sense Phestival is better mostly but its gotta be far out in an everybody park getting weird with all the people and rides around  and the only time i've gone on the ferris wheel is during the long break on day 2 at Magnaball after THAT ANTELOPE left me unsure of reality ;)

Word Ian they're rehearsing in Milwaukee. Who knows...

I remember hearing some recording of rehearsals in Portland before summer 2015

Also Tanas you're single handedly reinvigorating the boards. Let's bring back the OKp glory days!

Any word on whether or not they are still doing the LED screens?

I don't really care either way. I thought they were cool in St. Paul (doin' some cool stuff before Mike's Song), but they sorta screwed up my view of the stage at Deer Creek. Based on where I am in relation to the stage for Northerly It might prevent me from seeing Page's back / butt. But you know what... I go to Phish shows for many reasons, and seeing Page's back / butt is just one of them. Won't ruin my time if I don't get to see Page's back / butt.

^^ YONI! lol ask and ye shall receive!

lol yeah i started thinking out loud about the tech rehearsal in the morning and by night i'd heard confirmation that everything had been loaded into the Bradley Center in Milwaukee last night!!!!!

GIVE US THE SOUNDCHECK LEAKS NAO

Lol

tho seriously this has me feeling like 2012... someone needs to drill a hole in a door like at DCU

5 days early! how many days are they gonna soundcheck?? maybe this is all very normal but it seems like they're up to something...

^ we were discussing the LEDs yesterday. i expect them to be back. last year in an interview Trey was pretty serious about Phish having to do "something different" than all the other jam bands that try and have "their kuroda". my boyfriend thinks it'd be better if he just used solid colors/gradients as opposed to the patterny stuff... my biggest gripe is that the software apparently has no "smooth transitions" function... everything either changes with a big abrupt sweep or he can completely fade an image out.

i hope i get to tell someone this summer that "im here for Page's butt"

It'd ruin mine. Backs and butts are the only reason I go now.

And I'm fine with the screens. They show neat fancy stuff that my pot-addled brain can get with.

Much better sets in st. Paul last yr for the opener

Phish played better and jammed more this yr
Though they played it safe last night

Everything's Right was best new song last night,(really good jam for a first set!), the other's....eh

Pet cat sandwhich was a good ole throw down dance party

Twas a good show and great time and the best is still to come

Didn't mind the Led's but new lights are awesome

The hate for Northerly lawn is way overblown, if you know the right spots, that being said looking forward to being in the pit sun

The weather was unbelievably cool for mid july, loved it.

Oh yea got my first Nellie Kane at 101 shows
:D

This weekend warped my perception of Phish 3.0. The only expectation I had going in was the expectation that I was going to have a good time, and a good time was achieve and then some.

^^ I thought they set a pretty high bar night one. St. Paul had a MUCH BETTER setlist. Rarities out the wazoo, for sure, but there was also a bit of Waiting for Gadot going on. Waiting for Phish to kick in and deliver a jam. They played many jam vehicles (Ghost, Simple, Mike's Groove, NMiNML, and Bathtub Gin) and kept teasing the audience with it, but what we were waiting for never arrived. That said, St. Paul was absolutely blissful.

The best thing about night one was that you didn't know when the jams were coming. (Though we could all probably guess whats about to happen when they opened Set 2 with NMiNML.) Two solid jams in the first set, then the aforementioned NMiNML, a bit later Phish ordered up a Golden Age Sandwich on two slices of Your Pet Cat.

There was a point this weekend where I thought I wasn't going to see Page's butt, but thankfully they played Lawn Boy on Sunday.

I felt that "start to finish" that night one was maybe the most consistent with solid jams in both the 1st and 2nd set. But Sat/Sun both had amazing second sets with maybe average 1st ones. So it's about what you prefer. The 2nd set Saturday was just bliss...every song just flowed to the next and, even with them segue to new songs, it felt like those were just small breaks in the overall flow of the set.

If they are dipping into TAB's catalog this tour, I wouldn't mind seeing:
Dragonfly
Night Speaks to a Woman
Host Across the Potomac
Mr. Completely <- I'm looking at you 7.15.03
Low
Push on 'till the Day
Dark and Down

Or maybe something like:

Spin -> Twist
Shine->Shine > Shine a Light
