U.S. Bank Arena, Cincinnati, OH

Set I: The Sloth, Dogs Stole Things, Piper -> Weekapaug Groove, Dirt, Scent of a Mule, Walls of the Cave, Mountains in the Mist, Sample In a Jar

Set II: Tube > Bathtub Gin, Friday -> David Bowie, Bug

Encore: Suzie Greenberg

Show Notes: For the first known time, Weekapaug was played without Mike's Song (possibly to bring closure to the Mike's Song a night earlier). Gin included a down-tempo DEG tease.

The Piper>Paug is well worth a listen. Great stuff there. Ther rest of the show is interesting but not mind blowing. The Bathtub is jammed out, but didn’t grab me on the first run through. They play with the Bowie intro a bit; the jam itself stays on theme.

This Gin MAY still be my favorite seen thing. Say what you will…

The scene inside the venue was fantastic. just a sea of fans… behind the stage was fairly crowded as well.
The first set was fun and flowed pretty well,… the second set i thought the lights were fantastic. After the first set my ears were at full attention and rightfully so, as Phish proved their ability to improvise and still keep it interesting. The only gin I have ever seen live that i’ve enjoyed. It wasn’t the bowie as much as the bug that i remember… just a fun night. :open_mouth:

^

Sloth opener was (obviously) total rager. PiperPaug is not quite all-time but top flight stuff. I was really happy to hear Walls, it was good, jam coulda gone deeper. sample an odd set closer but it worked, at least everyone in my section was left pumped. Gin is otherworldly great. i actually remember the Bug being significantly better than usual. suzie greenberg is a sleeper… this is a kickass version with page REALLY stepping up.

this 2 night stand was pretty excellent… i know they played chicago before cincy, but this really felt like the first 2.0 midwest party, and energy was HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH :smiling_imp:

Just listened to this for the first time again last week.
Man oh man does the crowd swells really come thru on the auds during that 1st set. It’s exciting to listen to. 1st set is well played and I like the flow.
Didn’t find the Gin as interesting as the 20+ mins suggest.

Ten years ago on a cold dark night
Someone face melted 'neath the US Bank lights
There were few at the scene, but they all agreed
That the slayer who ran, looked a lot like Trey

Sung to the tune of The Long Black Veil, dedicated to Tube>Gin.
