HOOD!
Have to admit, I think I’m finally out of my addiction to this show, more specifically, the start of the second set. Not only is it not my giveaway disk at the moment, I have not heard that Tweezer in almost nine months.
That’s a serious breakthrough for me.

I’m not sure how much having the livephish sbds helped but this has always been one of the easiest and most enjoyable shows to listen to. That first set has excellent flow and balance.
From livephish comments:
"I don’t want to go song by song here, though it’s tempting. I’ll start by saying that I wasn’t at the show, but in my extensive listening experience with this band,THIS IS MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE SHOW, top to bottom, and there isn’t a close second. If you are one of those people that judges a show by the setlist, then you’ll disagree, but I don’t do that.
I’ll try and express my feelings about this gem with the following explanation. In my opinion, the whole approach to jam music that Phish takes is summed up by the Grateful Dead’s explanation of it during their 1980 recordings for Reckoning in New York, that is, the attempt every night to transcend into a dimension of consciousness that all can share simutaneously, but can’t explain. When the lyrics, playing and vibe all coalesce to form a greater whole. Like the Dead song says: ‘the music played the band’.
On this night, as you listen with open, sensitive ears, you’ll hear this take place. Often, Phish will try REALLY hard to get there through many choppy attempts, but fail. However, because their music and musicianship is so outstanding, the failure is still gold to the ears. But when they HIT IT, then the songs themselves are merely constructs carrying the deeper sound to it’s next destination, and the music enters the realm of being almost beyond criticism. It’s art for eternity. This show flows like none I’ve ever heard. After the marrow-dissolving Bathtub Gin, they follow with Sleep. I actually burst into tears the first time I listened. I knew EXACTLY what Trey was talking about, and also knew that anyone with a heart of gold heard it too.
If you doubt anything I’m saying check it out for yourself. "
I’m agreeing with this^… I wasn’t at this show either. If there was only one show in my entire phish catalog this is it.
thats because it was BLAZING TITS IN ALL DIRECTIONS FILLING THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE WITH BOUNCY NIPPLES.

Sleep after that gin is truely perfect… Beyond epic show
Hahahaha yes. I have since listened to and loved this show. The Tweezer > SSP is awesome but I’m crazy about this Bowie! They destroyed this one. It’s like they were fighting a dragon and it got kind of crazy for a moment but then they came back and just kicked its ass. Then they kicked the shit out of it while it was down.
