E: Hello My Baby, Cavern

New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. *With “When The Saints Come Marching In” tease. **With Michael Ray on trumpet. ***A capella intro.

I had a tape of this show “back then” and the trumpet in CTB was killer as was the YEM vocal jam that morphed into wolfmans… i don’t think the tape contained the second half of the set…

I like playing this show for people new to Phish. They released the SBD’s so it’s ‘easier’ to listen to quality wise. It’s got some super tight and awesome jamming but doesn’t get to weird and crazy (which of course, I like, but for somebody who’s not familiar that’s not a bad thing). The guitar solo at the end of YEM before the ‘vocal wolfman’s intro’ is scorching, the Hood is beautiful and the Bowie is also sweet. They get into a good dissonant groove right off the bat and do some cool things with it.
