E: A Day in the Life

This show has its ups and downs, especially compared to the majority of shows on this tour, which are mostly up. The Reba in the first set is really good and Mike starts this little bass line in the middle of the jam that takes them into a different key (maybe to a minor key?) and the slide perfectly back into the Reba key before finishing off the jam. The Antelope rages too I guess. The second set is all about the Bowie, but while it’s good, it doesn’t really compare to the rest from Summer 95, which is one of the best tours for Bowie. The YEM is pretty good, but sort of uninspired. The Possum tries to rage, but like several other songs from this night, there is some sort of awkwardness going on and they seem just a touch out of sync.

Today is my 20th anniversary of seeing the Phish.

Ah…my first show. The place wasn’t even half full.

Fun show for a newb like me.
