Set 2: Carini > The Mango Song, Wilson[3] > Drowned > Swept Away > Steep, Makisupa Policeman[4], Piper[5] > Also Sprach Zarathustra > You Enjoy Myself

[1] Band members’ children in a tub on stage. Happy Father’s Day!
[2] Tony Markellis on bass and Mike on a second guitar.
[3] Dixie tease from Trey.
[4] Solos by Mike, then Fish, then Page.
[5] Intro contained phrases from the previous Makisupa.
[6] Page on keytar.

Notes: In what is becoming a Father’s Day tradition (see 6/21/09), the show-opening Brother featured the band members’ children jumping into a bathtub on stage, followed by Trey introducing each of them and wishing everyone a Happy Father’s Day. Gotta Jibboo featured Tony Markellis on bass and Mike on a second guitar. The end of Wilson contained a Dixie tease from Trey. In place of a traditional Makisupa keyword, Trey improvised lines that set up solos for Mike, then Fish, then Page. The subsequent Piper intro included repeated phrases from the Makisupa (“Mike,” “Policeman” “SPAC” and “House” among others).

from the stream, this show sounded off the hook. Trey sounded like a different guitarist altogether. have really missed songs like Cities, Roggae, Carini, Swept Away/Steep, Makisupa…SO good to hear these old favorites. and is it just me or was the YEM lava hot?

^ You definitely were not wrong, CJ. The YEM WAS on fire!

Last night was the kinda Phish I enjoy the most. Very well-placed song list. Heightened jamming. Just a really good MIX of tunes rather than a “punch you in the face”, “balls to the wall” kinda setlist a la Hershey second set.

The good jams were GREAT! The slower tunes were just as great! Swept Away>Steep was such a nice treat! Plus, I have not heard Makisupa in almost 10 years. And we won’t even talk about the Carini>Mango — My fucking Mango song that I, just as Eric said to me last night during the show, have been chasing since IT!

Everything just fell right into place. Hartford Night 2? Pretty smokin’ . . .SPAC Night 2? FTW!

this show is SICK, I wish I went, the SBD is amazing, the show seemed super super on

This was an incredible show. SUPER SICK. And it was absolutely perfect song placement in my opinion. DL-ing the soundboards now, can’t wait to hear it again. What another fabulous weekend with the boys!

This show was just perfect. What a fine weekend in Saratoga it was. 2 really great shows. The boys looked like they had so much fun, as well as everyone else!!

This show was more fun than serious business. I felt going in that this show was going to be about whacky song choices more than anything else. Twas a great time indeed, but felt the band was much tighter the previous night. Still this show had its highlights in Carini, Cities, Undermind, Roggae and a 1st set closing Antelope that was straight up fire.

I loved the Makisupa…“SPAC” awesome…maybe no more SPAC after this year!!! Piper smokes after it too, btw.

SICK SHOW

Out of the 4 I saw (hartford2, spac, spac, GW) this was my favortie. I don’t know… seems more than one element has to come together to have a really good show… the band obviously being the key element but being in the right place, with the right people in the right frame of mind… or just being in the right frame of mind myself will make a show for me… then its up to the band. I saw this show with Eric, Pei, Cari and Tushar… we were on the floor, fishman side about 30 yards or so from the stage…The previous night was a bit of a nightmare personally… crowded lawn… but specifically my leg was hurting so much 2nd set I couldn’t enjoy the show. That didn’t happen night 2. So I was feeling good and relaxed and the music reflected that. I enjoyed the setlist very much… many tunes that I wanted to hear but didn’t think I’d get… cities, roggae, sleep again, mango, steep… all of which are beautiful tunes that don’t care to melt your face. makisupa was a blast, brother was fun, antelope destroyed itself… much better version than GW 2 nights later… kickin’ yem, a well placed drowed and a piper which I pretty much could hear mid-2nd set at every show i attend.

Phish 10 has gelled much more than i expected… I felt they had it in them and, well, they do… many years of music to come, glad to see they got past the drug addictions and whtever was holding them back… mid-life crisis I suppose… not anymore.

just listening to this makisupa

Just got done listening, Probly my favourite 2nd set this summer. Every song was exactly what I wanted to hear, playing wise and selection, superb! Makisupa, one of my fave songs, excellent version. Smokin’ show, amazing 1st set, especially 2nd set!

Loved this show. My favorite of the 4 I have seen so far (Blossom, SPACs 1&2, Camden 2). The first night of was pretty good, but very up and down. This show felt solid all the way through and maintained its flow.
Undermind was the set 1 highlight for me, but Cities is always a welcome choice in my book. Second set was smoking! One of those that just won’t let up, in a good way.
