Set 1: Sparkle, Ha Ha Ha, AC/DC Bag > Divided Sky, Dog Log, Undermind, Mike’s Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove, Cities -> Ya Mar, Bold As Love, Julius

Set 2: Rock and Roll > Tweezer > Free -> Guyute, Birds of a Feather, Harry Hood[1] -> What’s the Use? > Wading in the Velvet Sea > Possum

Encore: Sleeping Monkey > Tweezer Reprise[2]

[1] Unfinished.
[2] Sleeping Monkey quotes from Fishman.

Notes: Trey introduced Dog Log with “There’s enough of those damn signs out there.” Dog Log was last played on August 2, 2003 (172 shows). Hood was unfinished. Prior to Sleeping Monkey, Trey teased the Star Wars theme and addressed Fishman with: “Fish, when you get the end of this song, one last thing for all of us. The final tuck. It wouldn’t be complete without seeing Fishman seeing him tuck his dress into his underwear one last time. I am singing this one to you Fish, because I am your father.” Trey proceeded to sing to Fish using Mike’s mic. Tweezer Reprise contained Sleeping Monkey quotes from Fishman.

Tweezer was good, as was WTU. Encore was pretty fun for a Sleeping Monkey > Tweeprise encore. First set had Dog Log, so that’s pretty sweet.

So, I can’t be the only here thinking that Night 1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Night 2. Am I?

^+1

Couch Terr @ Eric’s again. Although I slept thru 75% of that second set trying to not spill my beer while sleeping, and waking up to keep my eye on Trey, make sure he doesn’t fuck up the sweet spots in Guyute.

For the second time, I’d hoped they would return to Harry Hood & finish it. Didn’t that happen in Worcester too, w/Light?

Not my favorite list o’ tunes in that there set two. Wish I hadn’t slept thru the encore completely; didn’t even know what was played til I got home later & looked it up.

Still though, solid show. TIGHT Hydrogen. Set one is fun stuff, I tuned in during Dog Log.

My take is, it’s the kind of thing where your opinion of this show will have a lot to do with your song preferences.

It’s still so refreshing to have a well oiled Phish back, I think that thought every time I see a 3.0 show probably.

all the bolded were firsts for me, so I had a blast last night…I thought musically last night was much more interesting show, but I will never forget what happened the first night obviously, one of the best Tweezers I’ve seen and it confirmed that is my favorite Phish song, the crowd was absolutely bonkers, Keith and I walked down to the pav in the middle of it so you could really feel the energy moving through the crowd like that

one of the more pumping shows I’ve seen, I fucking love Portsmouth, will do my best to never miss a show there again, completely different vibe then when I saw them there in '10…hopefully they stick to two night runs because seemed to have changed a lot for the crowd’s excitement

Yeah they didn’t end the woosta Hood either. I’m all for segues. But, you gotta feel good about hood! That’s the best part!

Looks like a fun show. Like a lot of this year so far. Can’t wait for Star Lake this Saturday!

First set was a little meh. Loved the Sparkle opener, Dog Log was cool and Mike’s Groove and Julius got some good blood flowing into the set.

Set 2 was nice and spacy, thought the R&R>Tweez>Free was pretty saucy. Fun encore too.

another unfinished Hood. Can we feel good this year?

more couch tour plz.

I agree that Fish and Trey are not really that tight w/each other lately. More than once I thought of Doug’s criticism of Fish’s Worcester performance.

Personally, I thought it was an accomplishment that Trey played the correct notes in H2, wasn’t so worried about it being squeaky clean.

And Fish played a fantastic vacuum solo Tuesday night, so I’m happy to forgive the drum rust!

As opposed to all those other years when Mike wasn’t holding it all together?

I haven’t heard much Fishman rust. Mother fucker is off the HOOK crazy, wicked, rock solid IMO.

Hendrix songs two nights in a row. Any theories as to why?

I do believe that was bonnaroo.

Don’t come to Portsmouth…it sucks.

they’re common cover songs they play 3.0

yup. agreed. worst venue ever. totally packed, no room! and no view whatsoever.

Agreed. I thought Fishman was in good form last night. Just came in here to say something about that. Some really nice finesse.

^^^I don’t know if there was anything to the Hendrix back to back, but although they are somewhat standard covers for 3.0 (yet still not that regularly played) it’s not that normal for them to cover the same artist in twice in a two nighter…almost thought they were gonna do the same with the Stones and play Sweet Virginia

^^no room, like sardines, it’ll make ya go into cardiac arrest, eh Keith?

^Yeah, I’m not sure what the Fish bashing is about, there certainly isn’t anything noticeably poor about his playing at the shows, and I don’t wanna demean my credibility but I’m not sure, at least for these shows, I can be objective about these shows musically…there was too much other awesomeness going on at the shows between the new lights, pretty ladies, raging with pa’sters, insane energy with a mellow vibe and friendliness, I did think Fish was a little low in the live mix especially the first night…part of it was just not having seen em in so long and with only one show since Chucktown 2010, it almost felt like I was seeing em for the first time again, now that the shock and awe is out of me I’ll be ready to throw in some constructive criticism cause lord knows these professional musicians need my thoughts on their playing

I’m wondering if they have abandoned the Hood ending at Bonnaroo and Portsmouth because the peak in Worcester was so lame? I hope not and I doubt it, but I feel like conspiring at the moment so that’s what I’m gonna do damnit

Another decent show. I haven’t heard anything that I think has been super fire this tour, nor have I heard anything which has been super suck and I’m okay with that. I am pretty sure though that the highlight for every show this tour has been the first 30 minutes of the second set. I’m okay with that too.

Cool setlist for the first set with a neat little Sparkle Ha Ha Ha combo to kick it off. I was impressed with the Divided Sky, which is not my favoritest of tunes. I love Dog Log and Undermind…both very groovy. I liked the AC Mike’s Groove a lot better than this one. I wish Trey hadn’t gone directly from the last Ya Mar chorus to the ending. I love that little jam / guitar solo. Kinda blue balled me.

The Rock and Roll>Tweezer is purty seck. That Tweezer contained what I think is the first jam we’ve heard this tour that sounded totally different from 2011 styles. It wasn’t entirely based on the staccato theme and had some sections that were a bit more grimy, which i loved. I enjoyed this Free, I think the vocals on this one sound a little better than they did last year. Hard notes to hit in that harmony. I’m really glad to see Birds of a Feather to be making a slight comeback, both in frequency and in creativity. This one isn’t as good as the AC one, which is one of the tour highlights for me so far, but it’s still really good and they play around with it for a couple minutes. I love that tune. Hood these days sounds a little awkward. They make it through the composed part, get into some nice mellow jamming, but then it just kind of…breaks apart. I guess it’s just lackluster. It used to go from so mellow to such high peaks and it just doesn’t do that anymore. The segue into What’s the Use? is the first one all tour that I didn’t think was executed very well. The rest of the band either didn’t seem to pick up on where Trey was going or had no clue how to transition so fast. It wasn’t really bad, but I noticed it. The rest of the show seemed more of a formality.

I might say I liked night 2 more than night 1, but I wouldn’t argue that either were better than the other.

WORST VENUE EVER…

…And ever
