That second set looks killer. How was it?

killer.

The Slave is really good. Just got a second listen today. Those last 3 songs must have been really fun.

Ok, I traveled 1000 miles to see them at this show, and I can not believe that I have not posted anything about it yet. I would like to start by saying “Lit O Bit” is no way to start a show. But no worries because they successfully grabbed and molested my attention with Camel Walk, Possum, and Divided Sky. Now, Divided Sky is far and away my favorite Phish song, and is a front runner for all time favorite song, I would happy to see Divided Sky at every show I ever see. There is nothing special about this version, but I still loved ever second of it. Dr Gable was an unmitigated disaster. Really, Page’s organ part was not bad, I actually quite liked it, but the rest of the song was a mess, and it is not coincidence that they have not played it since. Trey had to justify why it was so bad, saying that sometimes debuting a new song is very hard and thanked the crowd for not being assholes about it. But to quote Phish masterpiece Dr Gabel, “Even if you have fallen off your horse; you got to get back on of course.” He then proceed to play an old song “a really old song” - Run like an Antelope! In which “Leo Esquandolas” played took the shortest / goofiest solo I have ever heard.

The second started out with great promise, playing a thoroughly mundane Mike’s Groove. I am always happy to see a Mike’s Groove, in fact this was my second, but this was the second best one I have ever seen. OR! THIS WAS THE SECOND BEST MIKE’S GROOVE I HAVE EVER SEEN! Also, I say it was mundane, but honestly there is no such thing as a mundane Weekapaug Groove

You might call me crazy, but Sally > Light > 46 Days might be the best sequence of songs I have ever seen in person. It perfectly combined classic Phish 1.0 (Sally, yes I am aware this is a cover) 3.0 (Light) and 2.0 (46 Days), they were all spot on. For some reason Live Phish decided to break up Sally and the ensuing jam into two tracks, "Sneaking Sally through the Alley > Mansfield Jam. I do not get this, it is really a type 1 jam, a really good jam, but still did not merit its own separate track. After that, there might have been a Slave to the Traffic Light, but I am not sure because the show got really boring immediately after 46 day, It felt like they were just trying to fill time, which I am sure that they were.

Overall I give this show very high marks, and will even go as far as to call it the best show I saw in 2010.

^ they do that for cover songs because it saves money in royalty payouts. So if the Sally is only 5 minutes they only pay Alan Tousaant for the 5 minutes.

My sister sent this a few months before the show:

Hey Harpua,

Fly out of the Windy City (midway) late morning on the 22nd, and then you could fly back to midway anytime the 23rd or 24th. If you could fly back the 24th we could hang out in Boston a couple days, Taste some fresh Sam Adams!! The show is only like 20 mins down Avenue Malkenu from my Farmhouse! (as long as were not Slaves to the Traffic Light). Could be an excellent 3 day vaca so pack a Bag, not too many Heavy Things. Fluffhead cant wait to see you. Well i Gotta Jibboo, Brother.

Boogie on…
Funky Bitch

Fluffhead is what I called my nephew.
