Notes:
Pigtail (last played December 28, 2010, or 195 shows), Daniel Saw the Stone (last played June 30, 2012, or 140 shows), Dear Prudence (last played October 31, 1994, or 796 shows), Round Room (last played January 1, 2011, or 192 shows), Uncle Pen (last played August 31, 2012, or 123 shows), and I Found A Reason (last played October 31, 1998, or 493 shows).

This was night one during my four show mini-tour. I was blown away by the city itself. Before the show I took some time to go exploring in a city I have never been to before. If you are interested in botanical gardens and conservatories I highly recommend The Como Conservatory. Absolutely beautiful.

I then indulged in a delicious burger and copious amounts of local brews in a beer garden in downtown St Paul. This was followed by a nap. My spirits were high going into the show.

Tour opener, all songs are on the table, so of course they open with Pigtail. The room deflates. Wolfman’s Brother successfully captures the audiences attention. The band owns us for the rest of the show.

First set highlights include some major bustouts: Dear Prudence, Round Room, Daniel Saw the Stone (I have been in attendance for the last two played), and Uncle Pen.

Second set : My first complete Mike’s Groove since 6/22/10 (6 years to the day), and it was fairly pedestrian. The video effects leading up to the first notes were pretty great though. Ghost > The Line, why? Simple -> I Found a Reason was the highlight of the show for me.

Amazing song selection overall, and pretty solid play.

This show saw my first Pigtail, Dear Prudence, The Dogs, Undermind, Round Room, Horn, Uncle Pen, Simple, I Found a Reason, and Billy Breathes. Keep in mind that this was my 20th show.

^Awesome to get so many first’s

Good fun show… Even though not mind blowing, I enjoyed it and it def has replay value for me.

St. Paul itself was awesome, such a clean and neat city… We went to “lowertown” the first night and ate at the Bulldog… Then pre show went to the Cathedral Hill neighbor and went to the Muddy Pig for some tasty beers and Pig Wings, Delish!

I didn’t mind the pigtail opener… I like the song… Wolfman’s started the dance party of the set though.
Daniel saw the stone and uncle pen were welcomed treats, everyone was getting their boogie on…
My first the Dogs, love that song…so nasty…
Loved the Dear Prudence, even though the Mann Version was better.
Round Room was a pleasant surprise… Love the song musically… so beautifully played…Stash and Walls were highlights.
Overall good fun set with the bust outs and bluegrass tunes…

Highlights: Wolfman"s, Stash, Uncle Pen, Walls

Second set started with the somewhat rare as of late, Mikes-hydrogen-wee ka paug, that was cool, but not much going on in it…
Ghost was maybe the best jam of the night, it was really going places.
Simple was beautiful…and I thought from Simple on was great…Loved the Billy Breathes, we need more Billy!

And a Gin to close the set for only the second time!

loved the water in the sky Encore, nice way to switch it up and Character Zero sent what was a great crowd into a frenzy.

Love tour openers, only my second… the vibes are something special…

It was crazy. The last show I saw before this one was Alpine 2015 night 2, which also had an absurd amount of firsts. (The entire first set, less The Sloth)

I haven’t gone back and listened to the whole show yet, but there was something special about it. Obviously nothing from St Paul will make the jam chart (who cares? [Me, back in 2013 probably] ), but there was a great vibe to the entire night. I think that vibe was simply joy.
