I listened to this show the other day. Fun show. First set is kinda meh besides the Reba and YEM. Second set is where it’s at. Nice Type II Runaway Jim to start the second set. Nothing crazy like the other famous long Jim’s as this one checks in at roughly 14 minutes. Smooh segue into Lizards. Huge Antelope. Damn I want to hear an Antelope peak like this in 09.

Then the craziness ensues. Harpua…Long narration where Trey mentions that Jimmy turns on a record…ABBA record. The setlist lists Waterloo Jam, but the first time they actually go through the first verse and chorus of Waterloo. Hilarious. Trey then mentions that Jimmy has turn off this horrible shitty music. Trey says Jimmy perhaps thinks it could be better with a harmonica. Out comes John Popper for the Waterloo jam that segues right into llama. Awesome stuff right here. Popper stays on for GTBT. That right there is a set with crazy antics and long jams and a special guest taboot.

My friends and I were lucky to talk to Mike at the show after this. We asked “why didn’t you finish Harpua the other night?” He looked a bit confused and said “somethings are better left unfinished”…He also traded us his coffee mug for a quesadilla we were making… Does he still come out on the lot?

Compared to the rest of this summer tour this show isn’t that great IMO. The Reba is kinda the highlight to me. The Harpua is kind of fun but idk…for some reason I think it just looks a lot better on paper than what I heard. The Jim is sweet too though…that and the Reba.

Granted, compared to lots of other more recent shows…this one totally kicks ass.

The energy at this show was weird because the venue could not handle Phish. The buses were so over crowded that kids were riding on top. A kid fell of and died. We didn’t know it at the show but I think the band felt it.
