Sunday, 06/27/2010 Merriweather Post Pavillion, Columbia, MD

Set 1: Walfredo, Mellow Mood, Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan > The Divided Sky, Tela, My Soul, Ginseng Sullivan, Sample in a Jar, Bathtub Gin, Brian and Robert, Run Like an Antelope

Set 2: Wilson > Meatstick > Saw It Again > Piper > Ghost -> Jumpin’ Jack Flash -> Saw It Again > Contact, You Enjoy Myself

Encore: Fire

Notes: This show featured the first Walfredo since September 30, 2000 (131 shows). Antelope contained Brian and Robert teases and an alternate “Michael Esquandolas” lyric. Meatstick contained Japanese lyrics. Jumpin’ Jack Flash was a Phish debut. Ghost, Contact, YEM and Fire all contained Saw it Again quotes. YEM also contained Jumpin’ Jack Flash teases and, in the vocal jam, quotes of Saw It Again and Surfin’ Bird (The Trashmen). The lyrics to Fire were changed to “Let Jon Fishman take over.”

The last four nights appear stronger than any four night run, including the Island Tour. Could this be?

^ let’s not get crazy, Bill!

OMG. I cannot freaking believe I missed this show. holy christ. At least my best friend went–and it was her FIRST show. man oh man.

I Saw It Again and Meatstick. I could possible shed some tears over missing these. And of course my Ghost and Jumping Jack Flash. Grrrr!!

I LOVE YOU PHISH!

Ok, Again, HOLY FUCK!

I SAW IT AGAIN!!

B, This isn’t that much of a stretch. I was at two of the Island Tour, and two of these last four, and these two I just saw had more energy.

I think I might spend the day pouting about missing this show!

damn, I still can’t believe it, I really hope they keep it rolling for tomorrow

This second set is purely Phish. They did everything that I’ve been hoping they would do since they came back. It was truley magical.

Boy man, I Saw it Again - Trey

What a GREAT fucking show!

Set II HEAT!

Bill! I’ll give it up for energy. But what about the playing relatively? Was it just the crowd being satiated with songs and playing not yet rivaled since the return? 2 things that would envoke a massive amount of energy!

Please don’t let me be the turd in the punchbowl. Last night looked Amazing and I woulda loved to be there but comparing it and the 3 before to the Island might be premature. But that’s what I love about you Bill. You got the zest of a tour kid on break between freshman and sophomore year of college. Never lose that!

saturday night they gave merriweather 7 of the same songs we got last summer

i saw it again

hot damn.

and remember folks best ever this and best ever that is and will always be subjectivity peddled as truth. I say just enjoy it… perhaps Mr. Hunter put it best when he said “midnight on a carousel ride… reaching for the gold ring, down inside… never could reach it… just slips away… when I try…” … like… we are always trying to squeeze the truth out of subjective phenomena… reaching for it… and its just not there…

in anycase this is one hot show on paper… they just seem to keep getting better. They have such a deep, seemingly endless bag of tricks.

I was thinking about this when I started to see the setlist roll in last night. Good stuff.

I hung out with an old friend that did SPAC, Camdens and both MPPs. He thought that Camden 1 and SPAC 1 had both nights at MPP beat hands down. I can only compare my experience from last night with livephish sbds of the other nights. I was only able to go last night, but I had an amazing time. Merriweather was hot as balls yesterday, a quick sprinkling of rain in the early evening didn’t do too much for the legions of fans. The cops were a pain in the ass, if you were trying to puff in the lot or hang out by a tank, otherwise they were fine. It seemed that if you were being chill, drinking your booze out of a solo cup and being stealth, then they were fine. Reading the setlist it appears to be sick based on bustouts and song choice alone, but the fluid jamming b/t songs and the heat that was brought last night, expecially in the second set can only be appreciated having been there or listening to the show in it’s entirety. It seemed like a given that it was going to be sick, with the walfredo opener, with trey on keys and gordon on guitar. Saw it again and jumping jack flash were two threads interwoven through a ridiculous show. Mellow mood was a first for me. I can go on and on about last night…I can’t wait to hear it again as soon as my slowass torrent downloads.

For me it was probably the best show I’ve seen…yet. I’ve only been to about 20ish shows, starting in '00. I truly had zero idea what they would play next. They could have stopped after Tela and just played TTE for 2 hours and i still would have had a blast. This one will be tough to top.

Oh great and wise Big One, they will make a believer of you yet.

And then we can do sophomore year together.

If only, my friend, if only.

^ I get top bunk!
