CU cu gachoo…

Good show, Phish is striking out and I love it!

When I said that this show loooks “mehtastic”, I was referring to more of the fact that there is another Sample, another DWD, another Possum, and another Golgi. Not to mention Joy (which I like, but I guess just not so much live), The Connection opener, and a First Tube encore? Not one of my favs.
I guess that just says more about Phish this tour than about my personal tastes. I mean, DWD, Possum, Reba, Bowie, Mike’s>Weekapaug all in one show is something great. But it just seems that they have been playing these an awful lot on this tour. I know, I’m coming off as one of those “holier than thou” assholes who can’t be just satisfied.
I mean, hell, a Phish debut of Walrus, and a BOCL and I’m still complaining?! But again, I’m sure my opinion will change once I give it a listen. It just looks mehtastic on paper, that’s all. Plus I was in a pretty pissy mood last night/today so take what I’m saying with a boulder of salt.

Mikes>Simple>Walrus>Groove contains SOME of the best jamming of 3.0 thus far IMO.

I caps locked some b/c I don’t want ya’ll to think that I think its THE best…just some of the best.

^^I felt similarly when I read it, Sparky. I’ve seen 6 shows so far 3.0, and I think I’ve gotten ten Possums.

Seriously though after MPP II, it does seem awfully standard-ish.

It’s all about perspective though. One of my other favorite bands, Yes, hasn’t really changed their setlist by more than a song or two in THREE YEARS. And they’ve debuted one new song since 2001, and it’s been shelved.

Plus: After 6 shows, it was nice to get my first Mike’s Groove (w/ Simple and I Am the Walrus which was the tits!), Reba and Hood.

Minus: Sample again? 4/6 shows, meh, Joy (they have better ballads, but thankfully no ‘Let Me Lie’ )

Highlights: Disease, Reba, Funky Bitch (crowd was really into it), Undermind, Mike’s Groove, Hood and First Tube encore.

Not the super-rarity setlist I was hoping for (Merriweather II got that), but really good none the less.

As everyone stated some of the setlist has been played numerous times this tour and I have seen it
Only my 25th Phish show last night, but I felt like that was a milestone for me, Started seeing them in 03’ when I just turned 17 and with the Hiatus and having a baby is hard to get to shows these days. After the Merriweather night 2 show I was hoping for some SICKNESS, well I think we got it in the jams, all the songs were SUPER well played, very little flubs, a few nice surprises but damn some of it ROCKED, the end of the first set from Horn on I loved, the rest of the first set besides the connection I have seen a lot, and the second set was KILLER Phish.

Really can’t wait to see my next show

Great seeing you again Hank, wish I could have seen some other of you OKPer’s

This is the other reason that I hate that once and a while they play these shows with ‘crazy’ setlists…it makes people bitch about ‘standard’ shows (regarding setlists). I mean come on…you go see a Phish show and they play these songs:

DWD
Reba
David Bowie
Mike’s>Simple>I am the Walrus>Weekapaug
Harry Hood

These are some classicly epic fucking Phish tunes. Not to mention Funky Bitch, Undermind, and Curtis Leow which are songs I personally enjoy quite a bit. I’d take this show any day. And they’ve always stuck close to certain songs during a single tour. Why would anyone expect that to change now? I personally can’t wait to listen to this show.

Just got home and last night was incredible. People certainly shouldn’t be so focused on the setlists/repeats. it was my 3rd funky bitch and 2nd curtis lowe of the tour–and it was OUTTA THIS WORLD. Thought the funky bitch was the best out of the 3…although I still need to re-listen. No matter what, the boys were ON last nite, taking the music places like I’ve been wanting them too. I am the Walrus was so sick too!!

o.O I was with Hank like all night … how is it that you guys saw each other but I didnt see you??

^ You must be forgetting that Hank’s a ninja.

saw him while i was waiting in line for some pizza

damn I seem to miss meeting everyone at every show

I had a blast last night though
I keep listening to the SBD over and over and over and over again
That 2nd set is AWESOME

Was it just me or did the crowd seem extremely lame last night? Show was alright, Walrus was pretty cool. Not anything real special imo. Right before they played DWD Trey said something along the lines of “we’re checking you guys out…”. I took that to mean they were trying to decide what kind of a setlist to play. They then proceeded to play a very standard show with nothing spectacular as for jamming, with a couple bones threw in.

Also, Mike didn’t sound anywhere near as loud last night as he did both nights at Saratoga, which was disappointing.

last two posts = subjectivity at its finest

gonna give this a listen tonight

of course it’s subjective, it’s an opinion.

^ indeed… i know this.

i was just pointing out how one person can take away something completely different from a show, there are so many variables that contribute to ones opinion on a show. i’ve always liked that.

The crowd was super super weird last night
It really did seem lame as all hell, before second set i dont think anyone around me and my friends knew what was going on. they all just stood there
oh well, still had a blast

I’ll agree with the weird crowd. I was hanging in the lawn and people were chatting it up the entire show. Didn’t seem like a lot of people were even there for the music. This is surprising seeing as most of the tour wooks were probably still down South I assumed everyone who came out to Canandaigua was there for the music. Oh well, their loss.

I also took Trey’s comments about the crowd as them deciding what type of show to play. They added +600 miles to their travels to play again in NY so I figured they’d throw down an old school setlist. They took a while to get up to speed but the run of songs from Reba through Weekapaug were all on point. This is probably the first Mike’s Groove of 3.0 that really sounded like they were running on all cylinders. They’ve played the original groove so often I was quite happy to see it go elsewhere this time. Outside of that string of songs, a short DWD, solid Hood and energy filled First Tube were also the highlights.

Upon listening to this show again it’s quite good and I’m glad my friend talked me into going on Monday. I’m not sure when I’ll see them again but if this is indeed my last Phish show I have no complaints.

It’s the same way at every venue now… If you’re annoyed by people paying $50 to pretend they’re at a bar, get in the Pav somehow… During Hartford 1, there were several different groups around us just shooting the shit for whole show. I just don’t get it.

definitely low energy at this show. i was kinda disappointed with it after driving all the way from merriweather. was expecting more of a reward for those of us who didn’t skip it.

i also spent about 3 minutes on the lawn and found it interesting that it dips down so the first couple hundred feet of people can’t even see the band. and i’m not a short guy so it wasn’t just me…
