Soundcheck: Mound, Life on Mars?, Joy

Set 1: Crowd Control, Dinner and a Movie, Sweet Jane, Limb By Limb > Possum, Mound, Life on Mars?, The Mango Song > Big Black Furry Creature from Mars, Strange Design, Birds of a Feather, Halley’s Comet, While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Set 2: Down with Disease[1] > Sand[2] > Twist > Rift > Bathtub Gin[3] -> Fluffhead > Ride Captain Ride > Run Like an Antelope[4]

Encore: Cavern > Sanity, First Tube

[1] Unfinished.
[2] Weekapaug teases from Trey.
[3] Twist quote, unfinished.
[4] Ride Captain Ride teases from Trey, Twist quotes, and a “Marco”/“Polo” band/audience call/response.

Notes: Sweet Jane was played for the first time since October 31, 1998 (352 shows). After Sweet Jane, Trey informed the sign holders in the crowd that the band sees them the first time they’re held up, so there’s no need to hold them up throughout the show and block other fans’ view. Page then dedicated Limb by Limb to the people behind the sign holders. Disease was unfinished. Sand contained a Weekepaug tease from Trey. Gin was unfinished and featured a Twist quote from Trey. Antelope featured Ride Captain Ride teases from Trey, Twist quotes, and a “Marco”/“Polo” band/audience call/response.

Is it just me or did trey tease On Broadway during Bathtub Gin at about 6:37 in?

Just submitted that correction to Phish.net and it is going to be corrected. First time I successfully done that.

I liked the show, but not as impressed as Night 1, thought it was just above avg. Not sure if people here check out the other board, but the review by a poster was fucking hilarious…

Ummm… Yeah, pure bliss!

I loved the DwD>Sand, just thought the Twist>Fluff was a little underwhelming. I was hoping it would develope more like the Twist in Cinnci. Lope was great and the Encore might be the best encore I’ve got to see live, too many Loving Cup’s and Monkey>Tweeprise for me  Overall the 2 shows in DC were great and I’m so glad I got to be there

I thought the first set was good considering they jammed nothing. I don’t really like Crowd Control, and I don’t at all like it as an opener. But, we were in the pit and just as the band was about to take the stage there seemed to be a little issue down front with a fight breaking out. Most of security was busy taking care of it and so they stopped the band from coming out until it settled down. Whether Crowd Control was deliberately the opener or or it just happened to be so anyway I don’t know, but it made sense at the time so I’ll allow it  . Other than that the highlight was the Sweet Jane bust-out and the first one I’ve seen them play live. Really love that tune (and most VU tunes). But Dinner and a Movie, Mound, Life on Mars?, Mango and BBFCFM are all nice treats. This is the first Guitar Gently Weeps I’ve seen in 3.0 and I wasn’t thrilled about them playing it at first. All the other 3.0 versions I’ve heard I thought sounded pretty bad, especially in terms of vocals. While the vocals on this version weren’t much better, I really liked the guitar solo so I thought it was a good closer.

This second set is dreamy. Don’t really have much to add.

great show in my book, also got realy pumped for that Sweet Jane, whole first set raged for me. Realy got down on Mound, life on Mars?, Birds, and Halleys. WMGGW is an ok way to close the set but was looking for something a little stronger.

2nd set was dance party in our section(half way up Page side). Biggest highlight of the 2nd set had to be Ride Captin Ride. Encore was the best of the Deer Creek Alpine run.

^You are right. Ride Captain Ride SHOULD have been the highlight, but it was butchered and ultra sloppy. 2nd set of this show was a fucking rager, though. PHISH…SHIFT!!

Marco/Polo in the pool with Phish…

This just shows how in tune we all are with each other. What a special experience to be a part of.

Go Phish!!

^ Love it…had a blast hanging with you man…we fucking raged it up.

^Damn right! Me too. Thanks for everything!

the effect on the bass a-bombs Mike drops before the twist quotes in 'lope is one of the coolest effects I’ve heard from him, almost like the Boogie On effect, but tweaked a bit

also wouldn’t be surprised if they got the idea for the marco polo thing from Blossom, I know Judson started doing it during that one and I think I heard a few others in the crowd

^Those bombs you speak of Levi are from his Taurus(foot-synth), I love those soul vibrating notes.

This is another solid offering from the boys, nothing that will end up being a tour highlight, imo, but some good ol’ fashioned Phish. This show has it all antics, rarities, and a lil’ jamming, which seems to be the formula for shows lately.

^^see 10/11/10

Thank you, Ryan, for schooling me about the Taurus. And HdoubleAArePee. You are a gentleman, a dickhead, a fun guy, and a mothereffin’ scholar. No, really. I’m gonna bath salt cuisine your brains, brah. You have two many goodn’s for any one fleshbox to have. I enjoy yourself.
