Saturday, 07/03/2010 Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park , Alpharetta, GA

Set 1: Character Zero, Destiny Unbound, Rift, McGrupp and the Watchful Hosemasters, Bathtub Gin, Mountains in the Mist, NICU, Gumbo, My Sweet One, Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan, Strange Design, Sanity, Run Like an Antelope

Set 2: Rock and Roll, Prince Caspian, Tweezer > Slave to the Traffic Light, Bouncing Around the Room, Possum, Backwards Down the Number Line > Harry Hood > Loving Cup

Encore: Sleeping Monkey > Tweezer Reprise

Notes: Character Zero opened a show for the first time ever. McGrupp was played by request with Trey taking the sign from the crowd and holding it up before starting the song. Trey forgot the second verse to Sanity, asking “How the hell does the second verse go again?”

^I forgot the rules I forgot my pride but I don’t need a place to hide? Is that the beginning of the 2nd verse? … or is it ::googles::

Really fun show. Liked this venue a lot. Trees all around and great sound, and the widespread concerns about Alpharetta cops looking to mess with people turned out to be completely unfounded. Weather was perfect too. Bathtub Gin and Tweezer probably the highlights, but as always will have to listen to the recording.

Wish I could be going tonight too…

after further google review: You can trespass anywhere…

the amphitheater is almost literally in my backyard i can sometimes hear shows going on when i go outside. Couldn’t make it last night but am definitely going tonight. Good to hear the cops aren’t out for blood

^Yeah, they’re not out to direct traffic either. Fuckers.

Apparently, there was a cop in mine and Charliedigital’s room last night. I was asleep. The radio was the problem. None of the neighbors heard it, though. hmm…

And a cop was literally running around clicking his tazer at people in the parking lot…

The show was fucking sick…

I miss you all.

Shall see you at the meetup!!!

holy sheeit…thats all for now

Destiny and Lovin’ Cup … two of my favorite songs. Can’t wait to listen.

Man, last night was the best night of my life. Finally got my Destiny, Rift, and McGrupp, and all in a row taboot. Gumbo too.

Tweezer was fucking off the hook, and believe it or not, that was my first Bouncing, so I was pumped as shit for that.

God I can’t wait for tonight. See you’s at 6:30.

Loved this show.

twas in the GA Pit which gave us a great inside look at what goes on on that stage. It was also a great night to forget my camera.

The energy could not be tamed from the second they walked out. Zero was a rockin’ opener (first time ever, really?). I lost it when Destiny started up. Never thought i’d ever get this song live, and this was my 2ND! Rift was a first timer for me that we’ve all been waiting for and it was tight as hell. Loved Trey’s Springsteen move pulling the McGrupp sign out of the audience for request hour. (I also loved that the sign said McGrupp- another first timer!) Gin was probably one of the best jams of the night. Gumbo and My Sweet One were also long awaited first timers for me. Was expecting a set closer with that raging Stealing Time (still waiting for that one to launch into type 2 status) but then they hit us with my first Strange Design since my very first show (12/30/03). And then…and then…SANITY!!! My favorite first timer of the weekend and it was followed by my alltime favorite Phish song- Antelope! I was juiced at the set break.

we moved up a little closer for set 2. This was my 4th Rock & Roll 2nd set opener in the past 13 months but it doesn’t matter because its been one of my favorite songs since before i knew who Phish even was and it led into another great jam that Trey cut off prematurely and fuckerpants’d. But its all good. I don’t mind Caspian. It just would have been better if they would have let R&R stretch out a little more first. Tweezer > Slave was undoubtedly incredible. Great jam from Tweezer and I was getting chills during Slave. Only my second Bouncin’ ever and this one was better than the first- especially being up so close. Hood and Lovin’ Cup were right on time and beautiful as always.

Man, just riding off that initial Charlotte burst of energy and into this majestic forest (dare i say) Gamehendge-like setting in Northern Georgia.

Please tell me you were at the Fairfield Inn? If you were that would be the same cop that threatened my buddy with his tazer. Random dude shot off fireworks while my friend was talking to his GF on the phone…over zealous cop rounds the corner clicking his tazer in my friends face…needless to say the next night said friend raged hard to “f*ck you I won’t do what you tell me!”

Mmm, I felt that Destiny in my blood. I swear I was the first person in the venue to start celebrating, which occurred a split second before Fish hit the snare drum.

I was in section 101 for this show, didn’t like the sound at all. It took listening to the SBD to realize how tight they really were. The setlist speaks for itself, but this was some of the tightest shit I’ve ever seen. And that setlist!

^^man, that cop was out of line, on so many different occasions that night. I witnessed everything you are talkin about, and the cop was very big and menacing looking. He scared the shit out of your friend so bad that when he asked who lit them off he pointed right to the kid. It was actually pretty funny to watch from the shadows of the parking lot, even though I do not condone any thing that cop was about or said. The cop continued his rampage of intimidation and racism all night.

^Yes that cop was psycho. I only encountered him when I was returning to the hotel from the show and a banging time at Steak ‘N’ Shake. I know my friend may have called that dude out or whatever. But then again, I am not about to get tazed because someone shot off a firework with an over zealous cop in the parking lot in then ran into a crowd to hide.

I was expecting more of that from the Alpharetta PD. Luckily that was the only time I saw anything like that. Everything else, in terms of crowd management, was handled well by the city. I look forward to returning for another two night stand next year.

Oh and since this is in a show thread…Gumbo, which is one of my all time favorite songs, had been avoiding me by a show for my entire career. I was in the back of the pit on 7/3 and lost it as soon as I heard the first notes.

We were on edge about the cops since we’d heard Alph cops are CRAZY. But I didn’t see anything except some folks getting arrested after the 4th (bummer) probably for doing something stupid out in the open.

I also saw them running towards fireworks when they were set off, which I understood and thought they were doing a good job because that shit can get dangerous with a bunch of fucked up wooks (or anyone, really - the drunk frats are probably worse with fireworks).

Really great show!

i saw no cop shenanigans in Georgia. All i saw was total awesomeness everywhere.

Rock & Roll Saturday night part 5 at the Greek is gonna roooool!

I saw a guy getting arrested BEFORE the show on the 4th. That’s a bummer. Couldn’t help but shout out “Got any extras?”
