Notes: After “Birds of a Feather”, Page pointed out Ian in the crowd from “Ian’s Farm” fame and waxed nostalgic about playing there while also noting that SPAC was one of the band’s favorite venues. Yarmouth Road made its debut at this show. Energy made its Phish debut. Drowned contained Divided Sky teases by Trey.

Set 2!!!

That was a mighty strong show for second show of the year. Really patient playing overall and some really gorgeous soft stuff in there, especially at the end of light. Apparently “Energy” is a cover by a band called Apples In Stereo, whom I had never heard of until tonight. Good stuff.

Also, who else noticed that Trey is not playing the Ocedoc? His tone is gorgeous with that older guitar, much more compressed and round, rather than sharp and trebly like it has been. I think I feel some good shit coming on here in the 30th anniversary year.

Just returned home…solid show.

The 2nd set was just jam after jam after jam.

Light went into some dark places for awhile, in fact much of the 2nd set seemed dark to me.

I’m gonna have to listen to Yarmouth Road again in the morning, seemed a little dis-jointed at the show and couldn’t really hear Mike’s vocals that clearly. In fact, it looked like Mike wasn’t really happy thru the first 3-4 tunes. Couldn’t seem to get the sound he wanted; kept fiddling with the knobs on his amp and signaling to the sidelines to turn him up. I said to my friend that Mike just never seems happy to me, maybe it’s just his bitchy resting face.

Bathtub and Bowie were highlights for the night for me

Solid show.

mike looked and sounded unengaged the whole show, but fuck, i wasnt there so whatever. second set was great.

You can really tell that the band, ahem, I mean Trey, has been practicing.

Only minor flubs and mistakes last night amidst some stellar grooves and jams.

^ How’d the new songs go over? We’re people digging them? We’re you?

To me, listening from home, mvp last night had to be Page. That man is a machine. How does he never drop the ball? Just killing it during Moma, Cities and the whole second set.

Page was on point!

I liked Yarmouth, if I’m remembering correctly, it had a carribean feel to it. Energy threw me off being a song I didn’t recognize as set 2 opener. I wasn’t keen on it, but I’d have to give it another listen or two to be sure.

Great show! MFMF-end of set 1 and Mango-end of set 2 were my favorite portions. 46 Days was pretty fantastic.

was fun times watching the stream, I was fuckin hammered though

looking back on it this is definitely my kind of setlist

I thought the new tunes were OK. Not disappointing but nothing stellar yet. Potential is there though and not cheesy.

Did anyone see Fishman’s face on the stream at the end of Mango? The band was struggling to end it, and Fishman just had this funny look on his face like, "okay guys ready when you are  "

I saw that face and thought it was hilarious. I didn’t have that interpretation. Just thought he was making a goofy face. Good times. Fish cam.

Yeah, Fish cam ftw. I loved seeing Fish back there. They have really good videographers.

By the way, anyone heard of this band Apples In Stereo? I’m about to check them out, but I would have had no idea that “Energy” was a cover had my friend not told me that. I thought it might have been a cover, but I had assumed it was a new song by the time he sent me the text.

And my general impression is that they are having a whole lot of fun. They bought a bunch of new gear this year, they’re changing their set-up around, Trey is playing a different guitar (and it sounds better than the Ocedoc), and all of these things are indicative of a band that intends to stick around for awhile. And as long as they’re having fun and playing well, that’s fantastic. I feel nothing but positivity from Phish these days, and I fucking love it.

^i totally thought Energy was a new song that Trey wrote

Fun first set, pretty standard until the end. Yarmouth Road is interesting, nothing special just yet. Heard someone early in the set yelling Nellie Kane, so that was a nice payoff. The segues to finish off the set were absolutely amazing though. MFMF didn’t have the usual intro, but the wild segue into Bowie made up for it. Very solid first set.

Energy is an incredibly catchy song, but it is so lame and boring at times… really an oddball of a choice here. And Mango Song needs to be dropped if it is continually “played” in this matter. However, once again the finishing touches on the set were magnificent. Not a great encore, in choice or execution… but I won’t complain after that Slave.

Step up from Maine, but not much of one.

I couldn’t disagree more. This show is amazing. I love when Phish debuts new songs and covers, and this show has one of each. The Bowie is really engaging, it sounds like they actually were interested in playing it. The second set is straight fire. This might be the best Light I have ever heard, its easily more interesting than the Dick’s version, which I also saw live. The 46 days>Steam is great, and boy was I ever glad to hear Steam again! The set closes with a sick Drowned, and the best Slave I have heard in 3.0. What more could you possibly want…
