I’ve always enjoyed this show, but after listening to '99 up to this point, I can see why this one was chosen for release. As mentioned before, the CDT>Roggae is a moment of absolute bliss. The way Chalkdust never fully leaves the theme, yet manages to melt my ears through headphones is unbelievable. I will always have a special place in my heart for Chicken Shack. Bathtub Gin definitely tears the roof off the place as well, with possibly the most interesting part of the set for me.
Second set Tweezer opener goes right into space, and is incredibly enjoyable. Mist is a great cool down, before firing it back up with Birds, and another cool down with Circus. Very comparable to last shows Divided Sky, Train Song, Llama, Driver. I could definitely get used to that progression of types of songs, but nothing wrong with a couple ragers back-to-back. And the Fluffhead that closes out the set is possibly the highest peak of the entire show. Pretty standard for the first 3/4s, but the energy that comes around from the final section just screams through my speakers.
A bit of a sloppy Guitar Weeps, segued beautifully into Tweezer Reprize.
This is definitely a great show, and worthy of the original Live Phish treatment. I had heard it once I think as an audience recording, and then many many times through the soundboard. This time I listened to the audience recording again, and it is truly great. To be able to hear the crowd at times totally makes this more enjoyable to listen to.
Chalkdust Tortue>Roggae, Bathtub Gin, Tweezer>Mist, and Fluffhead are all amazing highlights.
