Solid first set.
Gin went out there, and Waiting All Night / Stash is a nice set ender. Stash had a lot of fun in it.
I’ve been catching up on the summer tour and this first set is the best set of the tour so far. It has great flow and a nice mixture of songs throughout. My only problem with the first set is the vocals for Waiting All Night. I’m a huge fan of this studio version so maybe it’s unfair to compare them with each other but, oof, do they sound pretty terrible singing this one live. The tour opener sounded well so maybe it was just an off night for them.
On paper, second set didn’t look all that appetizing but I decided to at least give the DWD jam a listen and go from there. Glad I did! This is probably the best jam of the tour so far. Great contributions all around and it really goes places until they finally settle into Golden Age. It’s not silky smooth but a better transition than most of the summer tour segues thus far.
