FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island, Chicago, IL

Set 1: 555, Kill Devil Falls, Bouncing Around the Room, Reba, Waiting All Night, Birds of a Feather, Halfway to the Moon > Sparkle > Sample in a Jar, A Song I Heard the Ocean Sing, Stash, The Squirming Coil

Set 2: Golden Age > The Mango Song, Sand -> Piper -> Halley’s Comet -> Wombat -> Chalk Dust Torture > Slave to the Traffic Light

Encore: Julius

Sample isn’t a tune I go looking for, but this one was great in person. Standing 20 feet in front of Mike makes everything better. Coil with the Page outro - beautiful. And it was nice to hear Page talk to the crowd. You could tell he was excited to be in Chicago playing at this great venue with no rain!

Golden Age>Mango, Halley’s and Wombat were the highlights for me. I love this version of Halley’s. I have already played it quite a few times…check it out. Mike was dropping bombs tonight, I couldn’t look away. And Wombat turning into a jam tune already? Awesome!

I think overall I liked this show the best. My kind of show. First set started with a nice 555. Reba, Stash, and Coil were great, the outro to Coil was very nice. I like waiting all night, but I think I would like to see it towards the end of the first set or somewhere in the second, I felt it just kind of got lost in the mix, it’s such a great tune. Second set was all out get down dance party. Nothing really “epic” but some good solid jams. Golden age is noteworthy and was the longest jam of the set. Mango song was fantastic and well it’s the Mango song, so you can’t go wrong. Sand>piper transistion had a bad day, and despite the sand being short, it still rocked and the set kept rolling, so it didn’t really bug me. The piper>Halley’s>wombat was incredible. Piper wasn’t mind-blowing, but the whole set I thought flowed nicely. And that wombat  they def took that for a ride and what a ride it was. Chalkdust just kept the the energy going into a nice slave. Julius I thought was a perfect encore for this show. Aside from the wedge set on sun, Wombat was def the highlight of the weekend.

This was the first show that I have been to since the reunion that I didn’t nerd out on, figuring out probabilities, and such. I didn’t even look to see what they played the two nights before.

I loved this show. The first set had Stash, Squirming Coil, and a great Reba, but as always it was all about the second set. Golden age > Mango, and Piper> Halley’s > Wombat were all amazing. Golden Age had some real gams on her, and that type II Wombat is a must hear.

This was the best show I have been to since 2010. (The weather may have been a factor.)

After the show a friend of mine asked if they played all of my favorite songs. Sure they played Reba, Stash, Squirming Coil, and Slave, and I do really enjoy all of those songs, but no. They didn’t play any of my favorite songs, and it was still the best show I have been to since 2010.

Is it me or was Wombat the song of the show? That thing was fun as hell, Fishman’s singing was hilarious and the jam just took off into the wild blue yonder.

They didn’t play any of my favorite songs, and it was still the best show I have been to since 2010.

That’s the best thing about these guys. You go in kinda wishing to see a few tunes and then when you leave you couldn’t bloody care less if they weren’t played.

I said it before, but for me it was the moment of the whole weekend next to the wedge, mikes, ghost, weekapaug. So much energy, straight up get down dance party.

Got this lot print at the show. I like it, but there is something missing.
