At the time, I didn’t think this “Gumbo” was anything awe-inspiring. Now, it’s definitely one of my favorite post-hiatus jams. My favorite “Gumbo,” to be sure.

I shouldn’t have had so much to drink at this show, I spent the better part of the second set sitting down on the lawn. Argh. That “Melt,” is so overrated IMO. Great glowstick war, though.

Man oh man…Well out of this 3 day run I think this is the worst of the bunch. Still love this show and had a blast.

PYITE is always a great opener and like Neil mentioned this Gumbo is just jaw dropping. You gotta check this jam out! I also loved the Carini>Magilla! My first Magilla and I definitely lost my shit. I love this song. Trey was even fluffing it!

I gotta disagree with your sentiments on the Split. I thought this Split was the shit. It was redonkulous. Mid set Friday was pretty meh, but following that right up with Lizards didn’t disappoint. A Walls to close the set, which I didn’t mind as I actually really dig this song. I really want to hear a version in 3.0.

Bouncin>Frankenstein encore was cool. Nothing crazy like a 5 neck guitar or anything.

Overall I actually like this show, but I definitely thought of it as the weakest of the 3 day run!

Listen to this “Gumbo” today, people!

And don’t listen to the long but average “Melt,” unless you have some time to kill!

good show. the carini, gumbo, and possum are all good versions. gumbo is a monster.

i had the time of my life in the 2nd set. this show is one of my favorite phish memories.

Listening to the recording, most of the first set felt like a second set, they were jamming hard enough. Gumbo, Carini and Possum(!) were all highlights. Loved hearing Magilla and Walls and hope they both show up this fall.

I haven’t heard this “Gumbo” in months. Gonna crank it tomorrow. Nice bump.

It is a common misconception that the band jammed along with the storm. Trey and Pages’ solos actually caused the thunder and lightning.

Damn it, I was listening to 07-22-1997 when I posted that ^.

Man, I disagree, I think that SOAM is one of the best ever. It has such a powerful build and some really REALLY dark and powerful playing from Trey towards the end of the jam. Fishman hits nearly every note to perfection, and the glowstick war (if you were there in person) adds some really cool memories.

I think this is a top 10 jam from 2003. Along with Mr. Completely from Utah, 7 Below from The Gorge, Rock n Roll from Boston, and Piper from Miami.
