  • dedicated to Greg. Trey begins song by saying: “Don’t let it get you down…”"

The first set of this show might be my favorite of the 6 in 2003! Fantastic opener (IMO, best one ever) and a long funky Sally.

This is still my favorite key words for Makisupa. And Buffalo Bill was a real treat.

I remember at the time hearing of Scents & Subtle Sounds, but never hearing it. Opening the show with it is a brave choice, IMO. 20+ minutes or so? At first I was kinda worried, but that quickly left my body as I realized this song is a great one.

Love this Antelope as well, the lights that came at the peak seemed to never end. White strobes flashing up and down. My favorite times.

This was a solid solid show. Like you guys said I wasn’t so sure about the Scents and Subtle Sounds, but damn that jam holds up on tape really well. Great opener that segued into Theme. Couple repeats from Alpine are next with the Sample and Rift, but can’t complain there. Then came Sneakin Sally!! Love this version too. My first and only Sneakin Sally as of today!

DWD opens up the second set. Another solid version here. Coil then the reggae madness ensues. Makisupa Policeman…which I agree with Will…best keyword ever…“Wrote a letter to my Friend Max Creek and it read Dear Creek!”…then Buffalo Bill, which is always fun. Looking for OWLS! The Antelope that we’ve been waiting for during the entire 3 day run finally hits us. Good old Antelope Greg gets the nod as he faces some jail time I reckon. Then a terribly placed Thunderhead…I really didn’t get this song right here. Oh well they ended it well with Slave.

Waste encore…meh.

Well this was suppose to be my last of 6 shows for 2003, but I couldn’t get enough. I was determined to keep going. Pretty crazy time in my life. I was definitely out of control. I got back to the campground and ate a ton of fractals and determined that I was going to NC. Hey I’ve got 2 days to get there. Fuck my job. I decided to quit. I picked up 3 hitchers as I couldn’t convince anyone else to go in my crew. So me and 3 random strangers headed to NC on 7/24. I went AWOL on Phish tour as none of my family knew where the hell I was. They’d find out in a couple of days. Just wait.

Looking back this was a pretty stupid decision that had major consequences, but I’m damn glad I did it in hindsight. It was definitely an experience I’ll never forget. Summer Tour 2003 stories will continue with the next show.

^ I’ve never heard the term fractals. Is that another word for L or something?

^ yes sir that’s what they were calling them.

Check this out for fractals.

I wish I had marbles that big!

the sneaking sally from this show is epic and is probably the best version that the band has ever played

I used to think that…until the Gorge 09 version. That one gives DC a major run for its money.

revisited the sally earlier and am currently listening to the 7.22 gumbo jam.

such a fun 3 night run in the middle of the week. great mellow vibe.

10 years ago, a pretty hot Antelope.
