This the show were I was hooked. Phish fan for life!!! This show is seck.

I feel super cheated because the tapes I had of this show were super piss poor quality so I never really enjoyed listening to this show, but man is it sweet! Ramble On opener, despite a few flubs, is super awesome and I think Mike’s is a perfect tune to follow up this opener with. And this is one of the best Mike’s of the tour methinks…a very hard driving drum beat that somehow keeps a pseudo-funky groove going allows for some serious bass bombage from Mike while Trey and Page create some nice textures together. I’ll take a surprise Esther in a Mike’s Groove anyday…amazing tune. The rest of the set has some decent tunes, but nothing mind blowing there.

Summer '98 is not the tour for Piper, but one they rush through it and Wilson the 2001->Magilla->2001 takes off and shit gets real. The Tweezer here is also one of the best of the tour and the style of the main portion of the jam is similar to the Mike’s in the first set and segues nicely into Fluffhead, which is rocking. Again the rest of the second set is standard 98 fare, but the Been Caught Stealing encore is, to me at least, really fun.
