This is easily the weirdest phish show I ever attended! Tucson is never a huge place for concerts and even the biggest acts ignore this city and its normally lackluster turnout. The audience of this show was somewhere between 2500-3500 people. Super small for this era.

The vibe was weird too. Lots of attendees that have probably never seen this band and most likely won’t in the future. Most of the crowd was seated throughout the show.

I had just produced a concert on the same stage about two months before this. My crew of friends felt like we owned the place. We knew all the staff, etc. So a group of about 10 of us just kind of sauntered into the venue around 10 min before the begining of the show and proceeded to walk through the crowd directly to the stage. We basically just pushed everyone out of the way and ended up front and second row center. This is the closest I have ever been to the band and it was amazing. Trey was constantly making eye contact and making little hand signals and stuff. Very interesting to watch.

The music itself is lack luster at best. A lot of that 99 aimless ambient stuff. However, we get a couple of surprises as well. The secod set is really strange with unfinished vultures and reba and the only phish performance of Will it Go Round in Circles. You most likely could get by with just a copy of the second set.

This show is also notable due to the fact that there was a murder in the parking lot. Some kid was selling bad drugs and the hippie/nitrous mafia kids beat him to death with their skateboards. That was the kind of vibe that was in the air all night.
