After giving the first set a listen, this Stash is almost too much for the rest of the set. It really gets out to some interesting points, and the two peaks that head back into the chorus are major smile-producers from me. A bit sloppy at the final notes, but hey… the song is “live, in concert.”
Strong Old Home Place with a nice segue into Cavern. And the Divided Sky is beautiful and up to pace with the show opening Stash.
I agree with sentiment for need a little more If I Could. It was a very welcome treat in Cinci’09.
I absolutely love Fog That Surrounds. I’ve liked this way a bit more than Taste, and this is a very strong version. Acoustic Army… just not meant to be listened back to. Julius was excellent, and I could tell it was teasing something… but I didn’t recognize Buried Alive. Sample closer brings the first set to an end in a good way. Amazing how much fire Samples had in their earlier days, now it seems like they are just coasting on this song.
