Set 1: Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan, Time Turns Elastic, Meat, The Divided Sky, Timber (Jerry), On Your Way Down, Heavy Things, Sugar Shack, 46 Days

Set 2: Carini[1] > David Bowie, Light, Theme From the Bottom > Free > Joy, Halfway to the Moon, Bug, Summer of '89, Split Open and Melt

Encore: Meatstick[2]

[1] w/ Harpua teases
[2] w/ Japanese lyrics

Notes: Carini ended with a meandering jam during which Trey teased Harpua several times. The first of the trapped miners in Chile emerged during the setbreak, and the second during Theme>Free>Joy. Meatstick included the Japanese lyrics from 6/9/00. The audience continued the song and dance for 8 or more choruses beyond the band’s ending. Don’t miss news of the Mockingbird Foundation’s grants to Broomfield schools.

Nice, I was saying before the show how I wanted 46 Days to make a comeback soon. I love that tune. I also love Halfway To The Moon, hopefully it ends up in rotation. What a lame opener though, STFTFP is ok, but then to have a TTE right after would be like “wtf?”. Carini>Bowie was probably awesome. Nasty encore. Harpua tease for Charleston!

I know alot of people hate on meatstick, but I kinda enjoy hearing it (maybe not as a stand alone encore) but squeezed into the middle of a second set jam. Also, the Japanese lyrics make the song even better. In fact, I think they should sing the whole thing in Japanese; that would be sick.

It’s supposed to be fun, enjoy it.

I LOVE MEATSTICK!!

and you can quote me on that  :wtf: :open_mouth:

:shh:

Summer of '89 is so bad, so bad.

Light. Theme From the Bottom > Free > Joy,

nice tribute for the miners

I love the Meatstick encore. That’s awesome!

Summer of '89 is terrible.

I need to hear this Carini>Bowie.

For those of you who were there, how was this 1-2 punch?

there’s something unsettling to me about this setlist.

People cannot understand why they play joy TTE or 89’??? All three are beautiful IMO.

from the other thread that was locked… by all means let them play TTE, Joy, '89, Moon… the second song slot for TTE was really awkward (to me and the section around me at least)… the only thing i was dissappointed in was how they murdered the second set with a slew of slower, newer, not as energetic and fun songs to get down to the last night the boys are in broomfield

second set turned to shit after Free, not that I minded Joy, but then Moon, Bug, and '89 are not going to get a crowd back into it… shit, i think the whole section of seats i was in was almost falling asleep by the first verse of '89

oh well, still had a fun show and Meatstick was fucking awesome!

Carini>Bowie was titties too… seriously fucking raging.

I haven’t listened to this show yet. But just from looking at it I can understand why this doesn’t look so hot. I like TTE, Joy, Halfway to the Moon, and Bug and like seeing them live. But to sequentially play Joy, Moon, Bug, Snoozer of 89 must have taken some serious wind out of everyone’s sails. I don’t usually complain about setlists, but if they’re really all about crowd energy I don’t see how this combination (in the middle of the 2nd set) could sound like a good way to bring the crowd energy up. Seems odd…

Thank you. Wink.

Epic, EPIC Phish setlist/song selection analysis here, folks.

LEARN FROM THIS.

Set 2 starts off real hot with the Carini > Bowie, Light. Falls off with the rest of the set though. I wonder what’s going through the band’s collective head when they play Theme > Free > Joy, Halfway to the Moon, Bug, Summer of 89.

I hear there were lots of glowsticks thrown at them, maybe they’re punishing the crowd?

This.

I’ve actually listened to the show now and the second set is a lot better than I anticipated. They only lost me during Summer of 89. It would have even been better to skip right to SOAM. The tempo of Bug was slightly faster than usual and Trey’s solo was pretty furious. The Carini>Bowie is the real shit though. The Bowie isn’t super long, but they get to a really cool place and wrap the song up without missing a beat. The Light was really good too, but I wished they would have explored the theme they were workin on before moving onto…well…Theme. Not a bad show at all IMO.

I also hear a lot of Jimmy Page type licks in Trey’s solo (esp in the Bowie finale)…just sayin

just listened to Carini>Bowie. Fucking nasty…say what you want about Mr. Miner but I think he might be right about this being the best bowie since the return, there’s some I haven’t heard yet though.

I didnt notice any glow sticks being thrown at them Night 1 or 2 but who knows. Second set Night 2 me and the girlfriend got stuck by some pretty shitty people. A group of teenagers and a group of “dave matthews band” fans is the best way to describe them. Not that teenagers are bad at shows, but when they are screaming lyrics in your ear bc they don’t realize its not a nickleback show is annoying as hell. Kind of ruined the second set for me tbh but what can you do? I’m sure there were a lot more of those types of people at the show so I could see this being the case.

I really hope that this isnt the trend now. With phish.com using twitter and shit, I hope Phish isnt the new “cool” thing. God I so so hope this isnt.
