10-16-10 North Charleston Coliseum, North Charleston, SC

Was pretty excited to see all the posts about this show, thinking they would be about the show and not a minor confrontation in the front row…

I’m listening to it right now… this Crosseyed is yummy mummyyyyyyyyyyyy!

so basically, I felt like last night was almost like a different band than Friday…more jams, and a lot of funky stuff…it seemed like Page was really a big part of this one, I can’t really decide whether Crosseyed or Tweezer was my favorite, there were so many freaking highlights in this show though…A lot of people were pretty blown away after the Bowie, looking around at everyone at setbreak- a lot of dropped jaws and smiling goin around

My bad, sheesh…I just wanted to know if anybody else saw it.

^I think we were all amazed at how much they packed into that set…the quality of the music might have also played a part in said amazement:-) At one point in the first set, we were all like, “man, they’ve been playing for long time”…and they did 3 or more after that. Anybody who’s downloaded it got a time lapse for the sets? I’d be curious to know how each one clocked in.

I was very happy to hear Mango Song and Geulah Papyrus. Not sure that I’ve ever seen either live before lastnight. Thanks, guys!

Page was definitely lastnight’s MVP, imo. Lots of funky grooves oozed from the boards all night long. Ghost or a Moma woulda been the icing on the funky cake, but I have absolutely no complaints. 2001 was definitely my favorite out of all the ones I’ve seen. I liked it when Trey teases the main riff with just a single distorted note. It’s sexy, rawwwwwr.

I expected Frankenstein>Tweeprise for the encore, but ohhhh no. I wished they had played around with I’ve Been Around a little bit more, but when they started Quinn, I was over that and completely satisfied. Then they finished up with a rawkass Tweeprise that just about tore the house down.

All in all, it was a really excellent show and I’m so glad I decided to go. I woulda been kicking myself all day if I had opted to miss it!!

Hopefully this is a more acceptable post ::falls over exhausted::

the uncle pen is good to hear. their shit is starting to get fundamental.

YEM Vocal jam contain Guy Forget quotes apparently. And i knew i hear them saying something but i couldnt make it out

what a night, the 2nd set is for sure worth a listen!! Now I know why they waited for the curtain with

This was my favorite Phish show i have witnessed so far. Such high energy.
Set 1: Started it off with the best KDF i’ve seen, and rocked it good. Always happy to hear a Guelah, fun song with great composition, played tightly. This Curtain With is so great. Super Super tight composed section played with such high energy. Then a beautiful jam that had me in tears at several moments. Then the end slid into Mango quite smoothly. I will say Trey was having trouble with this one, but Page definately held the energy up with some beautiful playing. After the ending Trey scratches up the intro to Sand which made me VERY happy. My first Sand and at such an unexpected moment. Wasn’t the happiest to hear Limb X Limb but it could be worse. Well played version too. OOOHHHH YEEEAAAHHHHH!!! Sneakin’ Sally! Some people here now must know my obsession with Phish funk by now. Anyway this made me SOOO happy to see. One of my favorite Phish covers of all time. Trey played this Uncle Pen GREAT, probably the best since they been back. Favorite Phish Bluegrass tune as well. Pebbles and Marbles took me by surprise but was not dissapointed. Probably my fav PH song, played very well too. Tight Cavern > an always great Bowie to close the set with high energy.

Set 2: CROSSEYED AND PAINLESS!!! Lost my SHIT when this started. And definately is in my top 4 CE&P’s. Up there with RR 09, Coral Sky 96, and Star Lake (03?). This jam ripped and really showed me that Trey REALLY is back. He didnt want that CE&P to end and he brought it back for some more funky greatness. Then a VERY fitting Dirt that made me happy. And a pretty damn flawless Fluff with an absolutely GLORIOUS Fluffs return. Which faded great into the ambient ASZ into i have been waiting to see live. This 2001 was a FUNK factory. All Four of the were just layin it down so thick. Best I’ve seen by far. Then this Tweezer. PLEASE dont look at the tracklist and be like meh ANOTHER ten minute Tweezer! Because this one is funky, unique and rockin. And i personally LOVED the Show of life and thought it was placed perfectly. Also was having a rough time the days before this show and related to these lyrics on a very personal level. And then Boom! Who can say no to a tight ass YEM closer with a raging jam?!

E: I Been Around seems to catch some flack but i loved it, and the banter was funny too… “Where ya been Page?”. Then Quinn! One of the happiest moments of my life. Great friends, great music great weekend. Rockin Tweeprise also to close it out.

It, also, may have to do with where i was in life when this show happens or the people i was with but this was one of the best weekends of my life. Sorry for the super long fluffy post but i just had to. Couldn’t help mahself!

EDIT:
HIGHLIGHTS:Curtain With, Sand, Sally, Pebbles and Marbles, Bowie, CE&P, 2001 > Tweezer, Quinn
FIRST TIMERS: Sand, Sally, Uncle Pen, Pebbles and Marbles, CE&P, Quinn

Holy crap. I’m listening to this 2001 right now and it makes me SO HAPPY. Ditto Crosseyed earlier.

I mean, really. Every other song was like “WHAT IS GOING ON”. Amazing show!

That’s a good looking setlist.

i listened to this crosseyed at least 5 times today. about 11 minutes in it fades out into this cool dark thing with trey doing some trippy delay effects.

i like to take my time listening to good shows i’ve been to. gonna check out the first set real good tomorrow before listening to the whole second set all at once maybe this weekend. can’t wait to hear the uncle pen. phish doing bill monroe is about as good as it gets for their bluegrass covers for me.

looks like that extra $10 for a “free” download paid off for this show (insert smiley face)

This is in my top 5 all time favorites!! Funny that 3 of those other shows had Mango Songs as well. (but none were as fast as this 1) I saw Trey lean over to Mike and mouth “Which way?”. Mike touched his nose in the universal colombian snow gesture. I think it was during the YEM dancing that Trey looked over to me and I rubbed my fingers together in the “this show is money” gesture. He laughed and ran over to tell Page. You’ll see it in the dvd I hope.

You have quite the imagination. I applaud it.

They always “brought it” to Charleston. 10/16/10 is no exception. I loved this show. I signaled to Trey the fingers rubbing gesture for " This is Money!" during YEM and He laughed and ran over to tell Page about it. That was money. The whole show delivers and I have a new show in my top 5 list! For the record. This was my 1st 3.0 show where I left feeling like things were finally back to normal with Phish. »
Tencenthen • Wed Oct 20, 2010 04:15 PM i wondered why he was shaking his head in amazement when walking off the stage. he had his arm around page was laughing and looked astounded, while doing the rubbing fingers sign.

very heady sketchy.

^ That is confusing. Where did that come from? Is SketchyD you or what? I don’t get it.

Yes.

You wondered if the person who made eye-contact/hand gestures with Trey and controlled the flow of the show himself was lawnboy357?

Lots to learn, Ed!
