Star Trek Jam, Alumni Blues, Mike’s Song*, Dave’s Energy Guide, Revolution, Anarchy, Camel Walk, Run Like an Antelope, McGrupp and the Watchful Hosemasters

*Introduced as “Microdot.”

Show starts off the very fast paced and progressive sounding TV Theme or Star Trek Jam. Fun, not a whole lot to it. Trey introduces the next one as an original, and they bust into Alumni Blues. Mike sounds amazing on this throughout, almost a little too much to the point he drowns out Trey at points. Alumni included the Letter to Jimmy Page, and when it gets back to Alumni they are really turning on the heat.

This leads into Mike’s Song, which is referred to by Trey as “Microdot.” Nothing too wild during the jam section, a very solid version. The odd lyrics at the very end of the song are back, and I listened a few times trying to make them out. I think it is something along the lines of, “I want to go to Mars, to see it’s just a dream. Life is not what…” There are a couple other words after that last part, but even on multiple listens I couldn’t figure that out. This segued nicely into “a modern song”, Daves Energy Guide. A bit more fast paced than the last version, standard otherwise.

Trey introduces their next song as “It’s our new song,” and after a couple seconds of trying to remember what word to say, they play Revolution. I swear them discussing the song was longer than the song itself. They mention they do have one other punk song, so they play Anarchy.

Next up is a very long jammed intro, with a very bluesy feel. Trey intro’d the song a few minutes into the jam, and Camel Walk comes out. Very solid version, with the highlight being the segue into Run Like An Antelope. This goes straight into the jam, and they left off the slow intro which had been played before. This caught me by surprise, and took me a few seconds to realize exactly what happened. “Rye Rye Rocco, been you to have any spliff man” were said, as well as the entire ending lyrical section. Still not a complete Antelope yet, but all the parts are there.

Trey was in a very talkative move, as he intro’d this song as “The adventures of McGrupp.” Standard throughout the lyrical section, but the second half of this song leads to a very interesting jam. Definitely leaves the entire realm of what is McGrupp, and goes to a few different areas before settling down for the outro.

HIghlight for me was the Camel Walk -> Antelope, while the low light would have to be Dave’s Energy Guide. It just doesn’t do enough for me.
