[1] Unfinished.
[2] Trey on drums; Mike playing his fight bell with drumsticks and playing drill on his bass.

Notes: DWD and Caspian were unfinished. Steam featured Trey joining Fish on drums and Mike playing his fight bell with drumsticks and playing drill on his bass. This show was officially webcast via LivePhish.com.

I streamed this show and I have to say, I had a lot of fun. It was just me and the dog as my wife was out of town for the weekend but plenty of chair raging ensued. They were on point in the first set and Mike was dropping bombs all over the place, though he is/was clearly sick or has some problem with his throat. His vocals were horrendous. Not really noticeable when he was doing backups but when he took the lead on Ya Mar it made me cringe. I’ll give him credit for trying his best anyway…he seemed frustrated but was still digging deep.

The Ghost>DWD>Steam segment of the 2nd set is smokin’. Trey had some really nice phrasing going on in the Ghost jam. Steam was deliciously weird. The last few Boogie On’s have had a very furious type of funk going on where they just kind of build in intensity even though they are just kind of holding down the groove. Haven’t been able to put my finger on it yet. I first noticed it in Chicago this summer, but I thought it was due to the rain which was also increasing in intensity as the jam went on. Fun shit either way. I really liked this Hood. Excited to listen to this show again sometime soon.

Ok, while in the “groove”, live form Hampton, I said the following and still stick with it - "From Mike’s - Quinn, this was a stretch of music that made me feel so HAPPY!!

Just a well played set of tunes with some real live energy!

Mike’s Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove

Set 2: Ghost > Down with Disease[1] > Steam[2] > Prince Caspian[1] > Boogie On Reggae Woman, Theme From the Bottom > The Wedge, Silent in the Morning, Harry Hood

Encore: Quinn the Eskimo

Just like night 1, this first set just didn’t quit. No standout 20-minute must hear jams but just awesome Phish all the way through.

And I will say that one of the peaks of the whole weekend was Ghost->DWD. The energy in the room was overwhelming by the time DWD kicked in after a superb Ghost. And then the Steam that followed was so heady that even Prince Caspian was awesome! At that point they could have done anything with this set and left me happy, and they decided to cap it off with some of my favorite Phish songs (Theme, Silent, Hood). Wonderful, just wonderful. And the lighters thing for the encore…

Sweet. Semi old school feedback intro to Ghost. Great disease. where the fuck is the horse? and before all you nay say, listen closer to recent versions and watch the band. They deliberately switch from Trey playing the chords to Page (playing the chords) for Trey to sing. I don’t think it sounds bad at all. done rambling. Great show. one of the best Ghosts of 3.0 easily. Nice peak in hood too.

More like “neigh-sayers”…right?

Went through this show with a broken wrist out of joint, and it ruled.

Right.
