oftentimes i’m tempted to skip over some first set material when listening to the previous night’s show for the first time…

not today.

I’ve listened to set 1 from last night. This is the best set of Phish in 3.0. Hands down. Holy fucking shit. I’m in awe and I wasn’t even there.

This is the best Slave I’ve heard since Big Cypress. Trey puts a lot of feeling into the solo but for once it’s not forced.

this was my 25th show since '97 and I definitely have to rank it up there in the top 3

First set was incredible; clocked in at an even 1:30 and the playing was just tight as could be.

Second set was just some of the best playing/jamming I’ve heard from them in a loooong time. The transition from Drowned to Sand was a little rough but what the hell. Great fuckin show

So…I guess the consensus is this wasn’t a very good show.

Seriously, I can’t wait to listen to this…it looks absolutely amazing. I’m so happy with the shows I saw this fall and thought they couldn’t possibly get any better, but it looks like I was wrong unfortunately.

‘Look over there, Genesee factory. Good place to get some thinking (DRINKING) done.’

For shame Trey, should have made that reference complete.

Bowie was quite unique…

Had Guyute Teases in intro and then had 2 separate Wilson intro teases during the Jam Interlude…

This show is the REAL DEAL…

I can’t stop kooking at this setlist

Nice jazzy/funky vocal jam during Wolfman’s was the shit

^Yes!!

That was one of the Top 3 WB of 3.0 for sure…

I’ve been thinking about this today.

Either way, this show looks pretty good. Gonna listen to it today.

The energy inside that little room could have powered the City of Utica.

Bwahahahahahahaha!!!

Wow, is all I can say. I’m only on Wolfman’s, and that’s the most “fun” version I’ve heard in a very very long time. They’re having a blast, and there will not be a tour that I don’t go see Phish in the Northeast EVER again! They’re complete beasts when they get warmed up and head towards home. They’re back, in a big way.

Don’t you mean fortunately you were wrong?

Anyway, I was down on the floor for the first set, and people were going absolutely crazy, especially during the peak in Guyute, and every time Trey dropped back into the rift there would be another burst from the crowd. As incredible as that first set was, I actually liked the second set better. I couldn’t really handle being on the floor, so I went up to the stands for the second set, and that Melt through Slave just kept on surprising me, and of course, getting a Birds doesn’t hurt. The amount of Gamhenge material was a treat as well. Although I wish it could have been Lizards instead of Tela. (am I the only one who likes the original arrangement of Tela better?) All in all, I will be keeping this one in rotation for a while now!

I wish I went to this, just couldn’t swing it with work and it being almost 4 hrs from home
Damn, that is an amazing setlist really hope they pull something like this off in AC for the 2 nights I am there

^ Only 4 hours and you didn’t go? For shame. No way I would ever miss out on a Phish show within 10 hours of me…I mean unless I couldn’t get tickets of course…but I guess you have a kid don’t you?

It really felt like old times last night. The band was just letting it flow, content to see where it might end up and yet still in complete command somehow. With the one exception of the slightly awkward transition into sand, nothing felt forced or rushed. All of the composed sections, and there were a lot of complex pieces, were tight and spot on. For much of 3.0, the composed parts have been played fairly precisely but have sounded “rehearsed,” last night they were unconscious.

I almost bailed on Utica b/c I had to work today but going in on 4 hours of sleep was the right decision.

^same boat for me, only 2 hours sleep. However, I have been walking around all day with the same glow that I would have if I had gotten laid last night. that’s basically the only way I can describe it. Unreal show.
