Set 2: Seven Below > Wolfman’s Brother, Backwards Down the Number Line > Alaska > Free, The Lizards, Brother, Roggae > Taste > Waste > David Bowie

[1] DEG tease (Trey).
[2] Trey sang verses through megaphone.

Notes: Last Ride Captain Ride was 12/10/99 Spectrum (214 shows). Stash contained a brief Dave’s Energy Guide tease from Trey. Trey sang verses of Fee through a megaphone. The last Chalk Dust Torture encore was on 10/6/2000 at Shoreline, with Bob Weir.

So Wolfmans was the song that got me into phish…and I’ve missed it by one show 5/6 times. WHY

Is this where I go get my post from the setlist subforum and post it into the … what, “live” “concert” subforum? I admit it, I’m confused about that sh!t.

… and is this where I edit my post and scuff the floor in frustration that the code is off in the threads we’re gonna actually use?

Ride Captain Ride!?!

Damn,…was hoping to catch that again in AC.
Oh well. At least they played it again. I love that song. So corny and so good.

Yep I know I say I love pretty much every setlist from this tour
But it’s true
They are awesome
Hope we get a Daves Energy Guide in AC

hands down the least engaging show of the 4 I have seen so far this tour (staring in Utica). First set was fun, with a sick stash, the rare ride captain ride, and a TTE that actually kind of worked in its placement (cool segue out of fee). I guess I had big expectations of the 2nd set when it started with seven below, but each song just felt like a recitation with no exploration or flow. Roggae>taste was probably the set highlight, with both versions extremely well played (maybe the best taste of 3.0?), just out of place in a disjointed set. I think this one actually look better on paper than it actually was.

I had the opposite reaction. Agree to disagree, I think, since I can’t even find a common ground to start with. Are you Mr. Miner? He said the same thing. Naturally I disagreed with him very much as well.

^I should add that I was real tired for this show after the past 3. I can understand why someone would have had a blast. I’m not mr. miner but I do tend to agree with him a lot in his reviews, even though I think his writing is laughable for the most part. I just couldn’t get into it last night, even though each song raged and Trey was on fire. Perhaps a listen is in order.

^I had the opposite situation, turns out! I was exhausted Saturday and full of energy, and a little gas, last night. Actually also, I tend to get more excited about things like precision and machine guns and new songs and bustouts and placement than I ever do about high improv content. Sometimes it’s not an assessment of quality, but rather preference.

If anyone happened to be in the upper D section and saw a kid get walked out by EMTs during Divided Sky, that was me. I had a seizure. I only had one mushroom chocolate, it was not too strong, I dont know the lights got to me or something. I suddenly felt light headed and dizzy, I tried to sit down and drink water, next thing I knew there was an EMT in my face and I was extremely disoriented. I was fine as soon as I got out into the bright lights in the hallway; I got back into the show after the EMTs took my blood pressure and had me sign something to say I was refusing further treatment.

Really weird experience. I’ve never had a seizure before.

Phenomenal show otherwise. One of the best that I’ve seen, the Fee really got to me,
You’re trying to live a life
That’s completely free.
You’re racing with the wind
You’re flirting with death
So have a cup of coffee
And catch your breath

indeed

Glad you’re okay Fluff. Take care of those shoes.

You have been to 6 shows and not seen a Wolfman’s?

Whoa, holy shit Fluff. Glad you’re okay man, that’s some scary shit. Also, fucking awesome that you were able to go back in and enjoy the rest of the show.

Dude, this really does suck that the BBcode isn’t working right. Us regular mods have tried everything we know how to do to fix it, and nothing has worked. A while back, Ian seemed to know how to fix it, but then he did his vanishing act again. I sent him a PM, hoping he would see the email or something and come help us out, but so far, no response from the Fist. It’s a real bummer I know, but this is still a pretty sweet forum if you ask me. I can still understand people’s quotes pretty easily even though they aren’t formatted.

Well now I feel like a total jackass because mine worked. This shit is truly befuddling.

ha! yeah, i understand about the code. I ended up double frustrated cuz i thought i was editing my post, only to realize i’d quoted myself instead, and of course the quote code didn’t work. oh well.

back on topic, this is my kind of show and i’m the most important person.

Fluff! Glad you are ok for sure. I saw that from my seats in the front row of the D section.

The show started our standard with a nice Bag and Camel Walk. RCR was awesome, mainly because it came out of left field. I had chills while they were playing it  Stash was VERY good. The best I have seen personally in 3.0. Fee was great to hear w/ the megaphone. TTE came and I took a bathroom break(as I usually do) this song may be getting better as most say, yet to me as a Phish composition it does not do it for me.

The second set started out awesome for a long awaited 7 Below which I have been waiting for, which was standard again. Wolfman’s was short but sweet, some great interplay with the whole band, and nice funk jamming and stop and start jamming. BDTNL was the worst I’ve seen in 3.0. Alaska was played pretty well.

Now, The Lizards came. It was great. No one can ever complain about hearing this one(for obvious reasons; It’s awesome!!!) Brother was an awesome song to hear after as well. Taste/Waste was well played, and the Bowie was RIPPIN. Encore with Quinn and Chalkdust was awesome to hear.

All in all I think the show wasn’t very well received amongst fans who didn’t attend. But, the playing was very tight. And I mean tight. Highlights were Stash and Wolfman’s for me jamming wise. Was great to hear Lizards, Brother, and Quinn #2 as well!!

Sigh, If I had an edit option I would fix the grammar errors. But, I can’t

as soon as I got out the doors into the arena into the brightly lit hallway I shrugged off the EMTs (they wanted to put me on a stretcher) and was able to walk, and I was quickly demanding that they allow me return to the show (I don’t trust anyone in a uniform when I’m tripping), but they forced me down to an infirmary and took my blood pressure and listened to my breathing. I wasn’t hurt in any way; just extremely disoriented, confused, sweaty, and exhausted.

the best visual hallucinations I have ever had were while the EMTs were helping me down the stairs. Incredible mandalas spinning and breaking and combining. Beautiful.

I sat for most of the remaining show. Loved the music, loved my trip.

The only downside of the night were those 10 minutes, otherwise one of the best shows I’ve seen.

^^^ Yeah, I’ve never seen wolfmans. It seems like a 3.0 staple but ive missed it by one show every time. oh the irony

Funny, I was just coming in to post how much I liked this BDTNL, short and sweet. Trey’s got some nice phrasing when the song peaks.

To each their own.
