Thanks Will. Sorry man, but I have to beat you up a little for not working the deal to make these shows. Last night was pretty damn incredible, and most of that comes from the fact that they took a setlist that looks pretty damn disjointed on paper and turned the world upside down with it.

I was so satisfied at the end of the first set, I didn’t believe I needed to hear this band play another note. I don’t know which member I was most impressed with last night because they were all running with such enegy and timing that my attention was moving from one instrument to another all night long.

I guess Fishman really impressed me the most because he was just keeping the rhythms humming so effortlessly. And the combination of he and Mike added such force that I could hardly believe my ears. I can’t say enough positive things about these guys after last night. This is an unbelievable time of rennaissance for this band, and anyone who’s ever slighly enjoyed them has to experience this incarnation because they are truly the best band I’ve ever heard play.

I’ll probably talk about last night’s show in spurts, because I’ve got a lot of things to do this morning before heading back down to AC around 1 today. But I need to really reflect on how much meeting up with Brian, Doug, PeiYi, Judson and of course, Hank, meant to me, and how important it was that Marie met some of you too. She couldn’t say enough good things about you, and that makes me really happy.

I was listening to that stream for quite a while last night and definitely what stood out to me most was the Sand -> Carini, particularly the jam the came out of Sand, though the segue itself seemed a little forced by Trey again. The jam got really melodic and it seemed like they were probably jamming on some song that I don’t know…maybe something off THE ALBUM. Oh, and Carini started with a line about a “naked dude”…what was that in reference too? What did you do last night Bill?

Seems like a really solid first night. Wish I could be there for the next two. Have fun kids.

The show last night was the tits. Incredible. The wife and I were raging and when the show was over it sounded like Phish won the superbowl.

super awesome show for me last night. met some cool peeps at the TUN and headed over to the show together. Met up with more guys on the forum and chilled in thier sec all night long. Thanks for the invite, hope to run in to you guys tonight! also thanks for being KIND

PYITE > Sand > Carini looks nice, especially with the type II jams noted on the setlist

I expected a vanilla opener to the Halloween run, but from the looks and the sound of the OKP members there it was anything but vanilla.

Can’t wait to give this one a spin!!

Oh and Devin surely you were either drunk or kidding when you posted the bit about the naked dude reference in Carini right???

I swear I heard something…I was pretty blacked from all the eggnog by the time the second set had started and there was a lot of noise in here, but I was sure Trey changed that first line in Carini…

Carini always starts with, “I Saw you with Carini and that naked dude…I couldn’t eat my food.”

Well then…carry on.

am i trippin, or does it say that you have zero posts under your name?

^ Hahahahaha, yeah it does, that’s fucking weird. Could be part of the weird server problems we’ve been having as of late.

I believe you can reach type II very quickly, if I understand the meaning of the term correctly. They have been doing that lately, a la '93, getting down to really crazy jams within 6 minnutes of starting the song. It makes me a happy Edward. I can’t wait to see what they do these next two nights!

Well, since mid-1998 at least.

The original first line was:

I saw you with Carini and that piece of ass
You built your house with windows
but those windows had no glass

^ True dat True dat…

^ Yeah, I was gonna say that too, weird. Yeah, on the Island Tour version he says “piece of ass”, and then when I first saw it in Chicago he said “naked dude” and I was weirded out and thought maybe he forgot the lyrics since I never listen to post-98 Phish (or at least it’s extremely rare). It probably got changed due to the fact that Carini has the unfortunate job of tackling people who run on stage, some of whom are naked.

Does Carini also tackle pieces of ass that run on stage too?

Any musicologists here recognize a key songs are played in? I had a moment during Rift where the jam almost sounded like slot machines. Was wondering if Rift was played in the key of C, the dominant key of slot machine sounds by design.

Rift is primarily in G, but modulates/changes key throughout the composed instrumental sections.

Got to sit front row, right in front of Fish for this one. Man, was the second set smokin’. I wore my flyers shirt which drew a nice chuckle from Trey when he looked over my way ( I was frantically pointing at it  ) At the end of Fluff Fish looked directly at me and shook his head and hands. A moment I’ll never forget in my life.

Seeing Phish front row was always a personal goal of mine, as well as seeing them perform w/ a horn section. Check and check
