Notes: Page performed Frankenstein on keytar. Spooky was performed for the first time since 4/14/93 (751 shows). The second set “musical costume” was Little Feat’s 1978 Waiting for Columbus. Join the Band (the first track of Waiting for Columbus) was played over the PA before the start of the second set. Subsequently, Phish was introduced as “Little Feat” before Fat Man in the Bathtub. All of the songs in the second set other than Time Loves a Hero were Phish debuts. All of the songs in the second set, other than Don’t Bogart That Joint and Willin’, featured Giovanni Hidalgo on percussion. A five piece horn section consisting of Aaron Johnson, Stuart Bogie, Ian Hendrickson, Michael Leonhart and Eric Biondo joined the band for Old Folks Boogie, Time Loves a Hero, Day or Night, Mercenary Territory, Spanish Moon, Dixie Chicken, Rocket in My Pocket and Feats Don’t Fail Me Now. Willin’ featured Page on bass, Mike on piano, Trey on drums and Fish on vocals. Prior to the piano solo at the beginning of Willin’, Fish remarked, “That should be Paul Barrère.” Don’t Bogart That Joint was performed a cappella. Trey introduced the guest musicians before Feats Don’t Fail Me Now. At the conclusion of the second set, the entire band marched the perimeter of the floor. Disease was initially botched and had to be restarted, prompting Fish to declare, “This one’s off our album.” Julius featured David Hidalgo and the Waiting for Columbus horn section.

man, looks like an insurmountable amount of fun tonight.

I have never heard that album…or any Little Feat album.

But i guess a lot of people had never heard Remain in Light, Loaded or even given Quadrophenia or Exile a good listen before Phish brought it to the table.

So yes Phish, I will oblige and check this album out ASAP.

^I believe you will find that to be a very worthwhile decision. Such a great album.

Yay… BB CODE!!

Seriously an amazing night
Just about to head back to buffalo

Simply put, Julius with horns stands on a higher level than it’s hornless counterpart

^Horned Julius was much fun, indeed.

On this Ghost, these comments that the band are no longer taking 10-15 minutes to get to the awesome smooth jamminess, but rather reaching that wonderful place in a shorter period of time are absolutely on target.

BBCode!! Last night was awesome!! Just as the other 2 were. The Frankenstein, BBFCFM, Ghost->Spooky opener was on target. I was sooo happy to hear Little Feat. The whole night was simply perfect. See you on New Years Phish

Oh forgot to add, has the arrangement for Camel Walk changed? Both Amherst and AC versions sounded odd to me. Also, they need to break back into the chorus section of Ghost with more authority!!

The Little Feat set was fantastic. I can’t wait to listen to it again. I was only partially familiar with the band before 10/31, but that musical costume is already towards, if not at, the top of my favorites list.

Horned Julius has to be in contention for the best encore of 2010. Up there with Deer Creek.

Fish used the original drum kit setup that Richie Hayward played on that album. He also wore overalls (ala Hayward) with pink donuts sewn on to them.

The band is back. Long live Phish, the greatest band on earth. The jams are back, everything is smooth as butter. Berkeley who?

IT’S OVER!!!

Not a fan of the costume album. I’ve given it a serious listen today and even tried to go through it a second time but I couldn’t get that far into it the second time around. Similar to Loaded, I was unfamiliar with the songs (except for Time Loves a Hero) so I went in fresh. Loaded is a great album and they pulled that one off spectacularly. This one, though it may have been true to the album, didn’t do it for me at all. I doubt I’ll ever listen to it again.

As for the Phish sets, after a tour of solid setlists and playing they really didn’t put a lot of energy into sets 1 and 3. The first set features a lot of covers, which is fine by me, but musically it’s nothing ground breaking and kind of fizzles out at the end. However, it’s still the best set of the night. The third set has a very weird flow to it and most of the transitions aren’t that smooth. Hood and YEM stand out but that’s only because the rest of the songs were pretty standard. Maybe they just ran out of steam for the third set but, all in all, this easily ranks at the bottom of Halloween shows for me.

Being there I have to totally disagree with you. This album was amazing, I already listened to it again and still think it is awesome.

I have listened to some live Little Feat before so I knew 5 of the 17 songs beforehand. I thought the album was great. Very groovy and fun. Spanish Moon was absolutely sick.

I wish set 3 would’ve been a bit better though. Jibboo shouldn’t be the highlight of that set, but I think it was.

I agree that Hood and YEM were played well, Hood especially. And yeah, third set’s flow was questionable, but I don’t think that should dissuade you from giving another listen to the Jibboo. Those three songs held down the third set.

Hopefully theres a Spanish Moon this December

Agreed. Jiboo was the highlight. We all saw DWD (insert Suzy, Hood, etc.) YEM coming. Which took some of the element of surprise away. All in all it was great night. All 3 nights were great!

wish we could have met up man
I had a fucking blast Saturday and Sunday
Jibboo was SICKNESS

I was on the floor Sunday on the left hand side just in front of the Soundboard.

There was a big tall black Security guard, maroon shirted with an orange glowstick around his neck in between the rails that was getting DOWN!!! I loved checking him out every couple of tunes. Really typified how great the venue and its staff had been all weekend.

The first set was high energy and extremely well played. D-Sky and Stash in particular. The opening run of Halloween Characters through Spooky got the crowd moving and were a fun way to kick off Halloween.

But the first set was defined by the jamming in D-Sky and Stash.

Page absolutely raged in Funky Bitch and a Character Zero closer usually has me looking for a head start to the bathroom. I stuck to my guns on this occasion and it paid off! Killer Zero! Pure Heat!

While I’d consider myself a fan of Little Feat its not in a big way. I had WFC and one other live album post Lowell George that I cant recall the name of. Lost them along with many CD’s in a move years ago and hadn’t really been staying into them in recent years.

I was …Content when I’d learned of the choice. But once the set was over I was completely floored. This cover was awesome. The band did an amazing job and so many of these songs meshed so well with the life Phish had breathed into them. Trey had been saying this one was for him. And while he was excellent in this second set I really felt that Page had shined more than anyone else on stage. Spanish moon is the clear cut choice as THE song that has to stay in rotation.

Tripe Face Boogie and Dixie Chicken are two I could see getting some future play along with Time Loves a hero, of course.

The third set was good. Some may say disappointing but at that point I was so happy with the three days we had gotten so maybe I was ready to cut them some slack. I’m not a Jibboo fan. At All. But this one cooked and to me was a clear highlight of the second set.It seemed like Trey wanted Wilson to end , but Mike and Fish pushed it a bit and it turned into a sweet little jam that I have to give another listen, but think there were some Hendrix teases in there.

Hood and YEM were both very well played. I was really hoping they would oblige the Manteca sign out of YEM, but it didn’t happen.

All in all from front to back, this was a monster three night run with plenty of highlights and a band that right now is playing out of their mind in their mid forties.
